SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - A small business landlord is giving his tenants some much-needed relief during the Coronavirus Pandemic. He's waived rent for April."Business is difficult in good times. It's especially difficult in bad times," says Daniel Powell, who is the landlord for 17 small businesses in the popular Arts District along South Cedros Avenue. "I think that what we can do together is more than we can do apart."Powell says he felt it was the "right" thing to do. His tenants say it's a reflection of the kind of person he is."His generosity and his action reminded me of what this is all about," says Carly Blalock, the owner of an interior design firm in Solana Beach. "It's about taking care of one another right now.""I have huge gratitude for him," says art dealer Lorna York. "I didn't know how I'd make it, and how I'd pay my rent. I have no income."Powell says he hasn't thought about May rent yet. He also added he didn't do this to pressure other landlords. He feels everyone needs to do what's best for themselves and their tenants."I just think that it's all about being as true to yourself as you can," he says. "And doing acts of kindness. A simple act of kindness in whatever way you can give it is what we need at this time." 1266

Since restaurants opened their doors to dine-in service, you may have noticed several different steps taken to create as safe as possible environment in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. One of the ways is changing the way customers decide on their orders as they prepare to dine out, reports Denver7. Now, when you walk in to many restaurants you'll find a QR code on tables or at the front door.Just by putting your phone’s camera over that code, the restaurants menu pops up.President and CEO of SpeedPro, Larry Oberly, said the plan wasn’t to release this technology this year. The coronavirus sped up the process."We have set up signage outside and in the waiting area to get into the restaurant where the patron can see that they can actually download the menus onto their phones and then once they go to the tables they can go ahead and pull those menus up."General Manager at Cherry Cricket Ballpark, Samantha Taxin, said the way for people to pull up their menus is a success so far."It’s a safer way to pull up the digital menu. I’m barely printing menus so it seems to be really working for the public, to be able to pull that up. We have a few fresh ones that we print every day but we really haven’t had to use any," Taxin said. Some will call it a fad but for many restaurants, it’s technology that’s here to stay. This story originally reported by Ivan Rodriguez on thedenverchannel.com. 1413

Some may call this story a coincidence but this Corpus Christi, Texas couple calls it fate.Turns out they were both born on the same day, delivered by the same doctor all while at the same hospital. It was at Bay Area hospital almost 23 years ago that the special deliveries took place.Sierra Molina and Marcus Acuna’s love story is hard to believe but it’s true. Now, this couple wants to make their wedding day just as special as their love story. It was while the two were getting to know each other they learned this love connection was meant to be. That’s because the couple was born on the same day, in the same hospital.“I went and asked my mom. And she was like why what’s wrong? Well, the girl I’m talking to has the same birthday as me. She goes, really? And I go yes. It’s weird,” said Sierra Molina’s fiancee Marcus Acuna. Then they were delivered by the same doctor.“So when our parents told us we were like oh that’s cool let’s pull out the birth certificate and we saw it on there,” said Bride to be Sierra Molina.“It was divinely a shock to find out that there is somebody out there that has the same birthday as me and lives in the same town as me for years as long as we’ve been here,” said Acuna.Their love continued to grow and on Christmas Day in December of 2019, the two got engaged.“When I realized I wanted to marry her, I was like you know, it’s something that I want to do and this makes me happy and she makes me happy,” said Acuna.Since their story is so special the wedding date they chose will be as well.“Now that we are going to have our wedding on our birthday on August 23rd when we turn 23 like that’s so special like this date whether it’s during corona or not we know we wanted to have this date,” said Molina. If you are second-guessing getting married during a pandemic, the couple has some advice for you.“Just do it. It’s not about how big it is or how small it is, if it’s in a backyard, ya know just anything. Get married to the person that you want to,” said Molina.Molina has tried getting in touch with the doctor who delivered them to let him know that the two babies he delivered nearly 23 years ago and just hours apart are now getting married. This story was originally reported by Corderro McMurry at KRIS. 2262
