SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An East County man suspected of posting graphic videos and plotting a downtown mass shooting was arrested Thursday.Steve Andrew Homoki, 30, was arrested and charged with multiple felony assault weapons charges, possession of a high capacity magazine, and child endangerment. San Diego Police say Homoki posted graphic videos online depicting assault weapons being pointed at unknowing pedestrians outside The Sofia Hotel in downtown San Diego.RELATED: FBI searching for terrorist from San Diego; million reward offered by State DepartmentSDPD served a search warrant at Homoki's Spring Valley home and seized several firearms from his residence. According to the warrant, Homoki has 14 firearms registered in California purchased between February 2018 and May 2019.According to the warrant, Homoki booked a room at the Sofia Hotel on March 22 and checked out the next day. On Sept. 17, a video was posted to a "Steven Anderson" Youtube channel, believed to belong to Homoki. The video showed the interior of a Sofia Hotel room from what appears to be a camera mounted to a man's body.The videographer is not seen as the video continues to show two assault-style rifles on a couch, along with a female mannequin head, a Department of Homeland Security license plate, an envelope, and ammunition scattered on the room's floor, documents stated.RELATED: FBI seeks men wanted for takeover bank robbery in EscondidoThe video then shows a semi-automatic handgun being loaded and pointed at people walking outside in the area of Front Street and Broadway, as the subject is heard saying "jams, boom," documents said. The ammunition then jams the gun and the subject unloads the round.The subject continues, picking up an assault-style rifle from the couch and pointing it out the window at pedestrians again and pulling the trigger while the firearm's chamber is empty, or "dry firing." The subject can be heard saying "one down, more to go," the warrant said.Another video posted to the same Youtube channel on Sept. 18 appears to be taken from inside the same hotel showing similar images play out, the warrant continued. The subject once again points weapons out a hotel room window at pedestrians and dry fires.RELATED: FBI searching for man who reportedly robbed San Diego grocery store bankOn Nov. 30, an anonymous report to the FBI believed a online chat user with a Youtube channel under the same "Steven Anderson" name had "gone off the deep end." The unknown person said they feared he was planning to do something, adding they can "almost guarantee if he is confronted while at home, he will open fire on Federal Agents or police."The unknown person said they watched the user "slowly become less stable over the period of almost an entire year" and post a goodbye message about five or six months prior.Authorities said they believe Homoki was rehearsing a domestic terrorist attack in the videos. SDPD has also filed a gun violence restraining order against Homoki.Homoki is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday. 3047

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An apartment building was badly damaged following a two-alarm fire in Serra Mesa Thursday afternoon. According to firefighters, the blaze started at an apartment complex on the 3300 block of Ruffin Road around 1:20 p.m. Once they arrived on scene, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in 20 minutes. A total of two units, one on the first floor and another on the second, burned in the fire. Two additional units were later determined to have been involved in the blaze. Two adults and two children were displaced from one of the units while two adults and two pets were displaced from the other. SDFD crews have put out a fire at an apartment complex at 3399 Ruffin Rd. Firefighters searched the two apartments involved and no one was inside. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An 18-month-old toddler ingested marijuana at a home in San Ysidro, San Diego Police said.Officers said a nurse at Sharp Chula Vista called them Sunday about 5:30 p.m. about the incident.The child ingested the pot at a home on Beyer Blvd and was taken to Rady Children's Hospital, the nurse said.San Diego Police said child abuse investigators are looking into the matter. 399

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — About 160 military police and engineers will be sent to border crossings in San Diego and El Paso this weekend, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.The government will send 80 active-duty troops to San Diego and another 80 to El Paso, according to CBP and the Department of Defense (DoD). Troops are expected to arrive at the two locations Saturday.CBP confirmed to 10News the Department of Defense will provide a "crisis response force" (CRF) for the San Ysidro Port of Entry (POE) in case a federal appeals court nixes a Trump Administration policy known as "Remain in Mexico," and due to coronavirus containment concerns.RELATED: Trump: US could close borders to guard against coronavirus"Based on the pending MPP [Migrant Protection Protocols] decision, continued concern of large groups attempting to forcibly enter through the San Ysidro POE, and COVID-19 containment and mitigation concerns, CBP has activated the CRF," a CBP spokesperson said.Though the spokesperson later downplayed that the troop surge was in direct response to coronavirus cases."...The DoD is not doing anything in direct terms of COVID-19. Last week, when the policy was temporarily stopped, crowds gathered at an El Paso crossing.In response to the incident, CBP said five port of entries have either been closed or had operations partially suspended."[POEs] are not designed or equipped to handle extremely large groups of travelers arriving all at the same time and temporary closure of a POE is contemplated as an extreme option, as necessary for public safety and border security," the spokesperson said.San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer's office, however, said while the extra troops are welcomed in San Diego, they shouldn't be treated as a long-term solution.“San Diego supports our brave men and women in the military and appreciates their service wherever it may be. Deploying the military to the border is not a viable long-term solution. As we saw with the reversal of the 'Safe Release' policy back in 2018, San Diego’s non-profit community and regional agencies quickly responded to establish a temporary shelter for migrants who were being released onto San Diego streets as a result of changes to Federal immigration policy.
