Gavin Newsom has admitted that he should not have attended a birthday dinner with a dozen people, as critics slammed the move as hypocritical.Newsom attended an outdoor dinner at The French Laundry in Napa County on Nov. 6, according to the Associated Press. The party, which included 12 people including Newsom and his wife, was held to celebrate the 50th birthday of the governor's political adviser Jason Kinney.In a statement to The San Francisco Chronicle, which first reported on the party, Newsom said he should have set a better example as many Californians battle virus-fatigue amid an increase in coronavirus cases.California prohibits indoor or outdoor gatherings of more than three households as part of its COVID-19 guidance.Monday, Gov. Newsom pointed to gatherings as a factor in rising coronavirus cases."It’s for obvious reasons. People are letting their guard down," Newsom said this week. "They’re taking their masks off. They’re starting to get together outside of their household cohorts. (KGTV) -- As spring breakers get ready to flock to vacation destinations around the world, a new report shows that Mexico has some of the most dangerous cities. Tijuana is the most dangerous city in the world, according to a report by the Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice. The Los Angeles Times reports that five cities in Mexico are among the most dangerous in the world. The list includes Acapulco, Victoria, Juarez, Irapuato and Tijuana. The report was published shortly after the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico issued a warning to people traveling for spring break. The alert warns of dangers including unregulated alcohol, sexual assault, medical emergencies and breaking the law in Mexico. According to Journey Mexico, more than 10 million people visited Mexico during the first quarter of 2018. Cancun is one of the top destinations in Mexico for spring breakers. (KGTV) - A new study claims Californians are dishing out extra cash due to the condition of the state's roads while supporters of an effort to repeal the gas tax slammed the study for neglecting to tell the whole truth. The study, conducted by TRIP, claims that driving on California roadways costs motorists statewide an estimated billion per year. The estimate is based on vehicle operating costs as a result of driving on rough roads, time and gas lost due to traffic, and the costs of traffic accidents.The study claims 64 percent of San Diego’s major roads and highways are in either poor or mediocre condition.When it comes to San Diego’s bridges, the study claims 64 of them are deemed structurally deficient and in need of improvement.Meanwhile, supporters of the gas tax repeal slammed the study as being a PR stunt by lawmakers to get more money out of California residents. “Don’t be fooled by a PR stunt by politicians of a few projects being approved in the middle of the Gas Tax Repeal campaign. Only a fraction of the existing gas tax goes to any road projects currently with the rest stolen and wasted by politicians. We could fix all of our roads if we simply allocated 100 percent of gas tax revenues to roads, but the politicians will never do that because this has never been about fixing roads, but rather getting more of your money," said Carl DeMaio, chairman of Yes on 6, a statewide effort to repeal the tax.  1486

Gavin Newsom and his family are in quarantine, after they learned that three of their children was recently exposed to a California Highway Patrol officer who had tested positive for COVID-19.Newsom said late Sunday that he and his family were isolating for 14 days following the exposure. Newsom said he and his wife, Jennifer, had no direct interaction with the officer.He added that on Sunday, his family had all tested negative."Late Friday evening, [Jennifer] and I learned that 3 of our children had been exposed to an officer from the California Highway Patrol who had tested positive for COVID-19. Jen and I had no direct interaction with the officer and wish them a speedy recovery," Newsom said in a statement on social media. "Thankfully, the entire family tested negative today. However, consistent with local guidance, we will be quarantining for 14 days. We are grateful for all the officers that keep our family safe and for every frontline worker who continues to go to work during this pandemic."Newsom's spokesperson, Nathan Click, had said on Friday that one of the Newsom's children may have been exposed to the virus while at school, though at that time, Click said it was a classmate that had tested positive.
