SORRENTO VALLEY (KGTV): An 11-year old volunteer is proving that age doesn't matter when it comes to helping the hungry.Aiden Gruby has been volunteering at Feeding San Diego since he was six. His parents brought him as part of a family activity. He was hooked immediately."I think it’s really great. I love that feeling of helping people," he says.He loved it so much that his family started coming every week. When Aiden turned 10, Feeding San Diego asked him to become a team leader.Typically, the organization waits until people are 13 before they can take a leadership role.As a leader, Aiden helps with orientation and rules. He also directs volunteers as they sort food."I’m just so proud of him wanting to give back to our community," says mom Janessa Gruby. "There are kids who would rather spend their weekend playing sports, or playing video games, and he has asked us to come every weekend."Aiden says his favorite part of the job is "reclamation," which is the process of checking all incoming food for package integrity, expiration date and then sorting it by category. He has no plans to slow down any time soon."I think it’s really good to help people in need of food," he says. "These are people who have everyday lives and work like full-time jobs but can’t get enough food."If you want to help Feeding San Diego, click here to donate to 10News' Month of a Million Meals. There is also a telethon planned for Giving Tuesday (November 27) from 4-7 pm. Every dollar donated will buy four meals for a family in need. 1543

Sharp drops in Apple, Facebook and other big technology companies ended a miserable week on Wall Street on another sour note. The S&P 500 gave back 1.2%, sealing back-to-back weekly losses and the second straight losing month for the benchmark index since March. Surging coronavirus cases in the U.S. and Europe have spooked investors into dumping riskier assets. Washington's failure to deliver badly needed aid to the recession-struck economy and uncertainty about the presidential election have also cast a pall on markets. The drops in several high-flying Big Tech stocks came after those companies issued uncertain outlooks for the future. On Friday, the number of coronavirus cases in the US rose to 9 million since the start of the pandemic. Many states are seeing record levels of cases and hospitalizations associated with the virus. 854

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., became the first Black and South Asian-American woman to accept the Democratic nomination for vice president Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention.Harris accepted the nomination from Wilmington, Delaware. Harris was officially picked by Joe Biden last week to be his running mate. Biden will accept the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday.Harris used her primetime address to introduce herself to millions of voters. The 55-year-old California senator has quickly ascended the hierarchy of the Democratic Party, and has the chance to become the second-most powerful person in the country come January.“[I am] committed to the values she [my mother] taught me, to the word that teaches me to walk by faith, and not by sight, and to a vision passed on through generations of Americans—one that Joe Biden shares,” Harris said. “A vision of our nation as a beloved community–where all are welcome, no matter what we look like, where we come from, or who we love.”Harris reminisced about her personal connection to the Biden family, through Joe Biden’s son Beau, who died in 2015.Following her official nomination, Biden joined Harris on the stage in Delaware, keeping his distance as a reminder of the ongoing pandemic.Warren’s subtle Black Lives Matter messageSen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., who opposed both Harris and Biden for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president, offered her full support of the ticket. But what garnered the most attention was not what she said, but what was seen. Speaking from a classroom, Warren had three colorful letters behind her spelling out “BLM,” short for Black Lives Matter. 1672
