ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — Last week, police arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting at an Escondido movie theater that left one man injured in June.The 20-year-old suspect, whose name is being withheld to protect the investigation, was arrested on July 5, Escondido Police said in a release Wednesday. Police then executed a search warrant at the Escondido resident's home.The June 28 shooting occurred at about 8:45 p.m. outside the Regal Cinema on West Valley Parkway. ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) - Construction is underway on bike and pedestrian improvement projects in North San Diego County.Paths will be built beneath the Interstate 5 overpasses at Santa Fe Drive and Encinitas Blvd.The work, which will cost .5 million, should be finished in late summer 2019.During construction, drivers can expect traffic delays. There will also be periodic noise and lights.“Construction activities have been designed to reduce impacts to anyone using these intersections,” said Caltrans Project Manager Arturo Jacobo. “While there will be narrowed lanes, we do not anticipate any lane closures during construction. Additionally, we are installing a temporary protected path for pedestrians and people on bikes, which now only exists along westbound Santa Fe Drive.”The projects are part of the North Coast Corridor Program, which will eventually add carpool lanes to I-5, double track the coastal rail corridor, provide walking and biking trails, and complete environmental restoration. 1017

FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) -- More than 34,000 San Diego Gas and Electric customers are bracing for a possible blackout. A Red Flag Warning begins at noon Thursday, lasting until 6 p.m. Friday and sparking precautions by the company. Customers Tuesday and Wednesday were told outages could come up to 48 hours after they received notifications from SDG&E. Throughout the day Wednesday, neighbors could be seen hitting the gas station to full up, making sure their generators will be powered through the outage. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Fire crews Monday stopped the forward rate of spread of a brush fire in the San Pasqual Valley. The blaze, dubbed the Cloverdale Fire, burned 100 acres and is, as of 7 p.m. Monday, 15 percent contained. The fire broke out on the 21000 block of San Pasqual Road around 3 p.m. near Hungry Hawk Vineyards. Arson investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department announced in an Instagram post Monday night. A San Diego firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.  602

FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) - A man has been arrested in connection with the Fallsbrea fire that broke out in Fallbrook on Sunday, according to the San Diego Sheriff's department.The brush fire started in the area of Ramona Drive and Pala Road around 12:15 p.m.When a deputy arrived on scene to investigate the smoke, the deputy saw a white man walking away from what appeared to be the point of origin of the fire, a press release states. The man was identified as 34-year-old Brad Arands.Arands was disheveled and his behavior was suspicious, deputies said. Arands was detained until the fire was controlled and a further investigation could be conducted.The fire burned approximately five acres and threatened numerous homes. One outbuilding was destroyed. The fire was 100 percent contained by about 4 p.m. Arands was arrested on suspicion of felony arson and booked at the Vista Detention Facility.   950
