RAMONA (KGTV)- Myrtle the coyote is recovering at The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona, after the Rancho Bernardo neighborhood came together to help.Katie Ryan has been watching Myrtle the coyote for years, and sounded the alarm when she first saw the new mother ensnared in a pipe. Katie guessed Myrtle was trying to capture a small animal that hid in the pipe and she got stuck. It took five weeks of constant phone calls, prayers and sleepless nights looking after Myrtle before she could get a trapper to catch the elusive coyote."I can't even describe I was crying and laughing all at the same time," Ryan said, her smile wide. She enlisted neighbors to block off the area, after a failed attempt Monday night due to a man trying to approach Myrtle and scaring her off.Neighbors said they guarded the neighborhood for hours Tuesday evening, going home with no hope. Then, a few minutes later, Myrtle followed a trail of rotisserie chicken and was caught in a trap around 8:30p.m.The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center picked up the coyote that night and sent this statement. 1118

Publix has suspended its political contributions as it reevaluates its giving processes, the national grocery chain said in a statement on Friday. The announcement comes days after Parkland student activist David Hogg called for a "die-in" at the grocery store to protest its support for a Florida gubernatorial candidate backed by the National Rifle Association."We regret that our contributions have led to a divide in our community. We did not intend to put our associates and the customers they serve in the middle of a political debate," the company said in a statement.Publix added: "We would never knowingly disappoint our customers or the communities we serve. (KGTV) - The San Diego County Sheriff’s sex crimes task force is investigating reports of a Ramona family who offered free train rides to families at their home, despite the presence of a registered sex offender.The Green family’s miniature railroad was years in the making. Recently, the family invited the Ramona community to visit the property.However, the Megan’s Law website reports 45-year-old Christopher Green, who lives at the home with his parents, is a registered sex offender. His convictions include lewd acts with a child under 14, the Megan’s Law site indicates.10News went to the Greens’ home to ask why the family didn’t let the public know about their son’s background. Green’s father would not go on camera but said his son has paid his dues, the incident was in the past, and the family is moving on. He added there would be plenty of supervision at the holiday train rides and said there’s more to his son’s conviction than meets the eye. Green’s father also said his son has a learning disability.The Sheriff’s Department issued a statement which reads in part, “The sexual assault felony enforcement task force was made aware of the event and has opened an investigation. (KGTV) - Over the past week, two different red flag warnings have plagued San Diego's East County communities. The Cornerstone Therapeutic Riding Center in Ramona was suffered damage from a wind storm Tuesday night.
