WASHINGTON D.C. -- (KGTV) -- Former FBI Director James Comey will break his silence Sunday night in an exclusive interview with ABC News.Excerpts from Comey’s book paint Trump as someone who is “unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values,” according to ABC.Comey went on, saying Trump is "ego-driven and about personal loyalty,” comparing the President a mafia boss. The interview is part of a media tour to promote his book “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership.”The exclusive interview is Comey’s first since being fired from the FBI by Trump. The book will officially be released next week.Comey has faced harsh criticism from both Republicans and Democrats and his book gives him a chance to defend his actions, according to CNN.In July of 2016, Comey announced that he wasn’t recommending charges against Clinton, but stated that Clinton and her aides were “extremely careless” in their handling of classified information.Comey also spoke in the interview about having to confront Trump about allegations against him."I started to tell him about the allegation was that he had been involved with prostitutes in a hotel in Moscow in 2013," Comey says in the clip.Comey characterizes the situation as surreal. "I'm about to meet with a person who doesn't know me, who has just been elected the president of the United States ... and I'm about to talk to him about allegations that he was involved with prostitutes in Moscow and that the Russians taped it and have leverage over him."In a Sunday-morning tweet, Trump called Comey a “slimeball” while criticizing his handling of the email probe. 1628

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- IBM says it is getting out of the facial recognition business over concern about how it can be used for mass surveillance and racial profiling.A letter to U.S. lawmakers Monday from new IBM CEO Arvind Krishna said the tech giant “has sunset its general purpose facial recognition and analysis software products.”Krishna’s letter called for police reforms and said “IBM firmly opposes and will not condone uses of any technology, including facial recognition technology offered by other vendors, for mass surveillance, racial profiling” and human rights violations.Krishna was addressing Democrats who recently introduced police reform legislation in Congress in response to the death of George Floyd and others in law enforcement interactions that have sparked a worldwide reckoning over racial injustice.IBM had previously tested its facial recognition software in New York City.In the letter, Krishna also called for a “national dialogue” on whether and how facial recognition should be employed by domestic law enforcement agencies.“Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool that can help law enforcement keep citizens safe,” wrote Krishna. “But vendors and users of Al systems have a shared responsibility to ensure that Al is tested for bias, particularity when used in law enforcement, and that such bias testing is audited and reported.” 1373

WASHINGTON, Mo. - A Missouri middle schooler died this weekend due to complications from COVID-19.The School District of Washington, Missouri, said eighth-grader Peyton Baumgarth was hospitalized due to the virus's symptoms and passed away over the weekend.Superintendent Lori VanLeer said in a letter to parents, the district extends its "heartfelt sympathy" to his family and asked the public to respect their privacy. She wrote that the family asks everyone to follow COVID-19 safety precautions such as washing hands and wearing masks. "COVID-19 is real, and they want to remind students and parents to take these precautions in and outside of school," VanLeer wrote.Additional counselors will be available at the school Wednesday, according to the letter.Peyton's last day at school was Oct. 22. VanLeer said the school was informed he was in quarantine on Oct. 26.According to local media stations KMOV and KSDK, Baumgarth was the state's youngest victim of the deadly virus. However, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services coronavirus database, which tracks the state's COVID-19 cases, deaths, and hospitalizations, by age, race, and ethnicity, did not have Baumgarth's death posted on its latest update, which was last updated Monday morning.Washington, Missouri, is located about an hour west of St. Louis.Hailey Godburn first reported this story at KSHB in Kansas City, Missouri. 1411

We're highlighting people taking action on behalf of racial equality in their everyday life. That includes a woman who started a parody Twitter account centered around the neighborhood network Nextdoor.“I just found that Nextdoor brought so much levity to my day, at least in my neighborhood, because Glenn Park is a really quiet residential neighborhood in San Fran, so I had this one neighbor that would complain about someone rearranging her lawn gnomes every single day at 4 p.m. like on the dot,” said Jenn Takahashi, the creator of the @BestofNextdoor Twitter account.Takahashi says she basically started the twitter account to make other people laugh. She posted passive aggressive arguments between neighbors, people helping each other and other funny posts. However, she says she also got a lot of submissions that weighed heavy on her and highlighted what she described as racism running rampant.“I always struggled with that because I didn’t want to put that negative energy back out there, but at the same time, I feel like those stories need to be told also,” she said.Recently, Takahashi tweeted Nextdoor’s tweet saying “black lives matter” with another person's post that got taken down for the same thing. Since then, people have shared even more stories of unexplained censored or deleted similar posts.A petition was even started to get racial bias training for Nextdoor neighborhood leads or moderators, among other demands.“I did not realize how completely what a mess their lead program was,” said Takahashi. “These people don’t have any training at all.”Since all this, Nextdoor has said it will "better educate our neighbors on what is and is not allowed on the platform, drawing a firm line against racist behavior and removing comments and members who violate the rules.”Nextdoor also ended a feature that allowed users to forward their posts directly to a local police department. 1913
