Zillow and Thumbtack ranked San Diego third in the nation for the hidden costs of homeownership.The housing analysts broke down the expenses of maintaining a home in addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Traveler satisfaction stagnated year-over-year as airports struggle to keep customers happy, according to J.D. Power. According to the report, construction projects and passenger volumes are at least partly responsible for the trend. San Diego International ranked 13th out of 27 in the large airport category, with a score of 774 out of 1,000. To reach the conclusion, the report looked at six factors: Terminal facilities; airport accessibility; baggage claim; security check; check-in/baggage check and food, beverage and retail. “With major terminal construction projects now underway in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and many other airports, it is becoming impossible for travelers not to experience some form of disruption,” said Michael Taylor, Travel Intelligence Lead at J.D. Power. “While these projects are absolutely necessary to address surging demand, they are currently causing passenger delays and confusion. This translates into a rushed passenger experience and less money spent on food, beverage and retail—and it’s slowing the progress of the airport satisfaction we’ve seen in the past several years.”Meanwhile J.D. Power says the experience of getting through security at the airport has improved by five points. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- USO San Diego received a 0,000 grant that has expanded several food and nutrition programs to support military families across the country who have been impacted by the pandemic. The gift was provided by The San Diego Foundation COVID-19 Community Response Fund, in large part due to funding from San Diego Gas and Electric, said the non-profit in a release."Immediately following the stay-at-home order in our county, USO San Diego recognized the importance of sustaining our food distributions," said Ashley Camac, USO San Diego's Executive Director. "We wanted our military families to be confident the resources they depended upon would remain accessible."The resources mentioned include grab-and-go bags of non-perishable items, a Thanksgiving meal kit giveaway, mobile farmers markets, and healthy breakfast options for military children participating in distance learning.Currently, SDG&E has donated .5 million to the San Diego Foundation COVID-19 Community Response Fund. The utility company plans to contribute an additional 0, 000 in early 2021."Even without factoring in the impacts of the pandemic, military families face many stressors related to deployment and make great sacrifices to serve our country," said Eugene "Mitch" Mitchell, SDG&E's vice president of state governmental and external affairs. San Diego (KGTV)- A music teacher at Grossmont High School reached out to the community after students were in need of guitars for the upcoming school year. The students will be practicing distance learning.Music teacher Jeremy Cook says the support has been overwhelming.“The response from the community has been absolutely amazing. I’ve met so many people. I’ve driven across the county picking up the guitars,” says Cooke.Cooke has received 117 guitars for students to practice.“Last year we had upwards of 120 guitar students total,” says Cooke. “There’s a hope to be able to offer guitars to students who aren’t able to take the class.”A couple of weeks ago, Cooke went to pick up a donation from a woman named Pam Anderson in Mission Hills.“I took it back to my car and popped it open. I was flabbergasted at what was inside. It was a 1969 Fender Telecaster.”These guitars range from ,000 to ,000. Cooke says he had to let Anderson know its value.“She said that she appreciated the honesty, and she still wanted to donate the guitar to the school,” says Cooke. “It was her husband’s who passed away. She said she knew he would want the same thing.”The guitar will be used for student performances and in the newly renovated music room when students are allowed back on campus.Cooke says he appreciates all of the donations. As a thank you to Anderson, the teacher has set up a GoFund Me page to help her during the pandemic.Cooke says there is still a need for guitars for the upcoming school year.
