SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 20-year-old woman died following a shooting that left three others injured at a party in La Jolla Sunday morning, according to San Diego Police. Police were called to the 7500 block of Draper Avenue near Jack in the Box around 12:39 p.m. after reports of shots fired. According to police, partygoers were standing outside a home in the area when a light-colored sedan drove into the alley and shot the victims. When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old woman and 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds, according to police. Police say both victims were rushed to the hospital where the woman later died. The 23-year-old is in serious but stable condition, police say.Two other victims, both 19-years-old, later showed up at different hospitals with gunshot wounds and are in stable condition, police say. The suspects are still at large and police say they have no description at this time. The victims haven’t been identified. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Warning that the change would pose serious threats to public health and safety, the San Diego County Police Chiefs' and Sheriff's Association Monday announced its opposition to a state bill that proposes extending California's daily alcohol sales cutoff time from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.Chula Vista Police Chief Roxana Kennedy, vice president of the law enforcement group, asserted that Senate Bill 58 -- which calls for allowing bars in 10 cities throughout the state to keep serving drinks for an extra two hours a day as part of a pilot project -- would have negative effects on communities ``that are within driving distance of the cities where the bars (would) stay open later.''``Extending alcohol sales means more drunk drivers during early-morning commutes, more DUI crashes, more injuries and more deaths,'' Kennedy said, adding that the change would ``impact our ability to respond quickly to other emergencies.''Under SB 58, bars in Cathedral City, Coachella, Fresno, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, Palm Springs, Sacramento, San Francisco and West Hollywood would be cleared to remain open two hours longer each night.The change would affect more than three-quarters of the state's population, according to a letter sent from the police association to the author of the bill, Sen. Scott Weiner, D-San Francisco.Weiner introduced the proposed legislation in December, three months after outgoing Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a similar bill.Proponents contend that the change would be an economic boon for areas with vibrant night-life scenes and high tourism levels.Alcohol-related problems cost California more than billion annually, including expenses related to public safety, crime, street collisions, injuries and illnesses, the San Diego-area law enforcement agency stated, citing studies by the nonprofit Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation.That fiscal hit would increase dramatically under the proposed extended alcohol-sales hours, resulting in an estimated 230 percent increase in fatalities and a 179 percent increase in injury traffic crashes, according to the association. 2126

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A European carrier is hoping to transform the way Southern California travels between major cities.FlixBus will start offering service to 10 Southern California cities, including in San Diego, beginning May 31. The service, which has operated within Europe since 2013, is hoping to carve out a presence with discounted ticket prices and some high-tech additions.For a limited time, travelers can snag fares from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for as low as on select dates throughout June, according to the service's website. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A ceremony was held Wednesday to honor San Diego County law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.87 names were read at noon at the memorial wall at the County Administration Building in downtown San Diego.The fallen law enforcement officers named date back to 1850, and they include San Diego police Officer Jonathan “JD” De Guzman, who was killed in the line of duty in 2016.“They did it because they loved it. They did it because they cared, and it’s just so important that those people, the survivors, know that the citizens appreciate what they did,” said Skip Murphy with the San Diego County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.The public joined the memorial on the northwest lawn of the County Administration Building and quietly paid respects.The San Diego Police Department is also holding a memorial ceremony Thursday morning.
