MOSCOW, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong on Tuesday called for joint efforts to deepen inter-university cooperation between China and Russia.
Urging all parties involved to avoid provocative pronouncements and actions, and to exercise utmost restraints and seek peaceful settlements through negotiations, the meeting also acknowledged that China is keen to promote common interests in keeping peace and freedom of navigation in the area and thus explore ways to co-operate.
He said that the United States should keep itself out of Asian matters, leaving to Asian nations the task of solving their own disputes.
On June 10, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a major financing agency for the initiative, joined hands with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on financing a highway project in Pakistan, marking the first cooperation between the two regional lenders.
