RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) — Ramona Unified School District is alerting parents of what they called a "suspicious" incident at a local elementary school Friday.In a letter home to families, Barnett Elementary School Principal Linda Marthis said a kindergarten student reported the incident took place at the campus' upper playground in front of the school.Marthis did not elaborate on the incident. San Diego Sheriff's deputies arrived and were unable to find evidence to support the student's claims.Out of an abundance of caution, supervisory staff will be "heightened" while students are on the playground and all K classes would have recess on the kindergarten. 668

President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he plans on announcing his nomination to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.It does not appear there will be any drama involving the confirmation of a new justice after Sen. Mitt Romney announced earlier on Tuesday he will not stand in the way of Trump’s nominee. Only two Republican senators - Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine - say they oppose holding a confirmation vote amid an election. With just Murkowski and Collins joining Democrats in opposing a confirmation close to the election, Republicans will likely have 51 votes to confirm Trump’s nominee.On Monday, Trump said he is choosing among five women to nominate to the Supreme Court by the end of the week, and is pushing for the nominee to be confirmed by Election Day.On Tuesday, Trump said he wants to see a full bench of nine justices in place by the election in order to oversee any potential election challenges.While the Supreme Court has given a 5-4 advantage to conservatives for many years, Chief Justice John Roberts has occasionally sided with the four liberal justices on key votes, including challenges on the Affordable Care Act. Reports indicate that Toys R Us could be the next retailer to file for bankruptcy.The Wall Street Journal reports that the toy retailer could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few weeks, just a few months out from the crucial holiday season.According to the Journal, the chain's suppliers are hesitant to ship new items before putting money down. The company is facing a debt of billion stemming from a leveraged buyout in 2005.Toys R Us has already received most of its holiday shipments, but could soon be prevented from receiving any additional toys before the shopping season begins.Toys R Us is just one of a number of retailers who have struggled as Americans have started doing more of their shopping online. President-elect Joe Biden has decided whom to nominate as his secretary of the Treasury Department. Biden said Thursday that the decision will be announced just before or after Thanksgiving and that “you’ll find it is someone who I think will be accepted by all elements of the Democratic Party, progressives through the moderate coalition.”Biden spoke to reporters after participating in a video conference with a group of several governors from both parties, telling them he wanted to be their partner in the White House.The governors talked about the need for government officials to be clear with Americans about what to expect as the virus surges. He says, “They all acknowledge this is going to take a massive education campaign.”The governors, according to Biden, expressed concern that it took eight months to deliver 100 million COVID-19 tests, so how will millions more vaccines be effectively delivered.Biden called the pandemic a “national emergency” and there should be FEMA assistance and federal funding available to help states and deploy National Guard teams when needed.Biden’s treasury secretary would lead his economic team as many businesses and Americans struggle to recover while the coronavirus pandemic continues.During questioning from reporters, Biden reiterated he did not support a full national shutdown, “no national shutdown.” He said it wasn’t about a national shutdown, but about knowing what the threshold in each region is.“Because every region, every area, can be different,” Biden said. “There is no scenario I see for a national shutdown.”He also called on the GSA to ascertain the election results and allow the transition to move forward, saying that the lack of information about the current status of the federal coronavirus response could delay efforts next year. 1816

Prince Andrew's legal team has told CNN that they will not comment on the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell, a day after an acting U.S. Attorney urged him to come forward with information about the case.On Thursday, Maxwell was charged with four counts relating to her alleged involvement in recruiting and trafficking underage girls for Epstein and two counts of perjury. Epstein himself was arrested and charged with trafficking in 2019, but weeks later was found dead in his jail cell.In announcing the charges against Maxwell on Thursday, Audrey Strauss — the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York — urged anyone with information about the case to come forward, particularly Prince Andrew."We would welcome Prince Andrew coming in to talk with us. We would like to have the benefit of his statement," Strauss said in response to a question about Prince Andrew's involvement in the case.Prince Andrew was a known associate of Epstein and even stayed at his New York apartment in 2010 — two years after Epstein pleaded guilty to sex crimes. Prince Andrew also appears in a photograph with Maxwell and a girl who has since claimed Prince Andrew and Epstein abused her.The Duke of York has strongly denied any wrongdoing in his connection to the case.Sources also told CNN that Prince Andrew's legal team says it's "bewildered" and claimed the team has communicated with the Justice Department twice in the last month.
