SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — An Arizona woman is facing first degree murder charges after she admitted to murdering her mother Monday afternoon.According to Sgt. Ben Hoster, dispatchers received a call around 2 p.m. from someone at an apartment complex near 64th Street and Osborn Road saying their neighbor asked them to call 911.Scottsdale police say Holly Brennan, 46, later told the dispatcher that she had killed her mother, Sharon Simmons. Officers responded and found Simmons deceased in a bed.Brennan told police she suffocated her mother. Investigators did not immediately know when Simmons had died.Mike Bennett said he saw Brennan confess to police outside her apartment. "She admitted that she smothered her mother with a pillow," said Bennett. "Responding officers then went inside the apartment and located an elderly female deceased on the bed," said Sgt. Hoster. "Then they put the cuffs on her and sat her down on the sidewalk," said Bennett. "I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It took a couple seconds for it to sink in, and I'm like, 'Wow she just admitted that!'" 1093

RIVIERA BEACH, Florida — The FBI said a 59-year-old U.S. Army veteran shot and wounded a doctor Wednesday evening just before a mental health evaluation at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Riviera Beach.The shooting happened at approximately 6:20 p.m. local time at the hospital.According to the FBI, 59-year-old double-amputee Larry Ray Bon pulled out a small handgun and opened fire inside the emergency area, striking at least two people.One person was grazed by the bullet, and a doctor was shot in the neck while trying to subdue the shooter. "In between shots, the doctor saw an opportunity to jump on the subject and disarm him. While doing so, he sustained a gunshot wound to his neck, so pretty heroic," said FBI Special Agent Justin Fleck.The doctor, whose name has not been released, was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center. The doctor was treated and later released.The shooter, who officials said is originally from Michigan, has been recently living in the West Palm Beach area. Officials believe Bon may be homeless. The FBI said Bon served in the U.S. Army for a very short period of time, but this incident is not believed to be combat-related. The FBI did not release any information concerning the security measures of the hospital. "He has a criminal history and has had frequent contacts with local police departments," said Fleck.The hospital will remain operational for scheduled appointments and procedures on Thursday.Riviera Beach Police assisted the VA police force. Kelly with new bribery charges Thursday that appear to be related to his 1994 marriage to a teenager.A revised indictment in federal court in Brooklyn accuses R. Kelly of scheming with others to pay for a "fraudulent identification document" for someone identified only as "Jane Doe" on Aug. 30, 1994. A day later, R. Kelly, then 27, married 15-year-old R&B singer Aaliyah D. Haughton in a secret ceremony arranged by Kelly at a hotel in Chicago. The marriage was annulled months later because of Haughton's age.Defense attorney Douglas Anton on Thursday called the latest charge against his client "ridiculous and absurd."The Brooklyn prosecutors had already charged R.
