(KGTV) — Sheriff's deputies were led on a wild chase through the South Bay Saturday, ending with a violent crash and three people injured, including a deputy.San Diego Sheriff's deputies were called to a report of a suspect burglarizing a vehicle in the area of 13th St. and Donax Ave. in Imperial Beach just before 10 a.m. When they arrived, the man took off and led deputies on a vehicle pursuit into San Ysidro.During the pursuit, deputies say the suspect hit a female driver on Dairy Mart Rd. before continuing northbound on Interstate 5, onto side streets in Chula Vista, and back onto NB I-5. At times, the driver reached speeds of 100 mph, deputies say.The woman was not injured, SDSO said.The pursuit came to an end when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bridge at the top of the H St. offramp. A deputy involved in the pursuit crashed into another vehicle at the top of the offramp as well. Both the deputy and that driver were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.The crash was so intense, it rained vehicle wreckage on the freeway below and damaged a woman's windshield. Bridge railings and fencing were also damaged, SDSO said.The suspect fled on foot from the crash, heading down the H St. offramp and onto the shoulder of I-5 before deputies captured him. Martinez said she raised the red flag regarding financial issues at the district, but was not taken seriously. She said when it came to some of the district's financial accounts, "that's how the reconciled. They just made up stuff and made a balance."Martinez said she was sitting next to Superintendent Karen Janney when the multimillion-dollar deficit was discovered. "She said, hey it's the business system. It's old, huh? Just making up stuff. I've heard about six different versions of the truth and none of them have been truthful."The former Chief Financial Officer Karen Michel would not participate in the audit. The team also could not make contact with Doug Martens, the director of fiscal services.With the release of the FCMAT report, it will be up to the District Attorney, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and State Controller to determine if fraud did in fact occur within the Sweetwater District.The district was given 15 days to respond to the audit's findings with its "proposed action."One teacher in the district, who did not want to be identified, said the audit's findings were sad, but not surprising. "Hopefully, the positive that can come out of this is that we become more transparent and have more oversight and this will never happen again," the teacher said. On Tueday, SUHSD spokesman Manny Rubio provided this statement to 10News on behalf of the district: "The Sweetwater Union High School District is currently reviewing the report from FCMAT and its findings and recommendations. The District takes this report very seriously and will be determining next steps. Given that this matter is still pending, we will refrain from any additional comment at this time."The District Attorney's office said they are reviewing the audit. CINCINNATI -- Police in North Carolina detained a Cincinnati-bound American Airlines passenger Monday after the man reportedly ran off the plane onto the tarmac and swung a punch at an airport worker, Business Insider reported.While boarding Flight 5466 from Charlotte, North Carolina to Cincinnati on Feb. 26, the man appeared disoriented, according to the report. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Officials identified the man killed in a crash on Interstate 805 earlier this week as 55-year-old Victor Hugo Becerra Guevara.The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on I-805 near Bonita Road.Becerra Guevara was driving north on the freeway in his Nissan pickup when he was hit by another vehicle, according to information from the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office and the California Highway Patrol.The force of the impact sent him careening into a truck stopped in a nearby closed-off construction zone.RELATED: Fatal crash leads to I-805 lane closures, traffic backup in South BayBecerra Guevara died at Scripps Mercy Hospital a few hours after the crash.The driver who hit him was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.Officers closed lanes of northbound I-805 after the crash, leading to an hours-long traffic backup. 882
