ATLANTA, Ga. -- From the motivational speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the spiritual guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, Morehouse College in Atlanta is literally covered with inspirational messages.One phrase, however, has become the mantra for what it takes to become a Morehouse man:“Iron sharpens iron,” said Morehouse College president Dr. David Thomas.Thomas says students and staff at this historically black men’s college have turned struggles into strengths for more than a century.“What we do here is something that doesn’t happen anywhere else on the planet,” he said.The Morehouse campus is quiet this summer with all classes now being taught online. A decision Thomas says may spill over into the fall semester.“I’ve got to do the best job I can for this college,”said Thomas. With staff and salary cuts already happening, the impacts of COVID-19 could last much longer.“When you talk to our students about their experience being here, they will often talk about the power of being in a place where black male excellence is an expectation,” Thomas said. “And that’s hard to communicate in a virtual experience."Morehouse’s 2020 valedictorian, however, was able to express the difficultly of this new reality in simple terms“I think my experience when COVID hit was, I describe it as a little disappointing,” said new graduate Golden Daka.Though Daka is disappointed, he says his class has turned this pandemic into a learning experience.“It let us know that life isn’t not guaranteed and the most precious moments that you cherish could easily be taken away from you,” he said. “So, a lot of people are approaching this as a form of adversity to get stronger an to get better in areas of weakness.”In addition to closing campus, Morehouse College has also canceled all fall sports, which they say is the first Division II HBCU in the country to make that decision.“It’s heartbreaking for me,” Thomas said.Despite the disappointment, Thomas says Morehouse is more focused on academics than athletics, adding that the key to reopening campus is finding a vaccine.“We’re going to have to do that before I think we can declare victory against the virus,” he said.Morehouse now has the chance to play a role in that victory. (KGTV) -- A series of explosions in Austin has terrified residents as hundreds of local and federal officials try and determine who is behind the incidents. The first explosion was set off on March 2 and killed 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House. Numerous other people have been killed or injured by the series of bombings including 17-year-old Draylen Mason, who was killed after a package bomb went off inside his home on March 12. Mason's mother was also injured in the explosion. A 75-year-old woman, 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were also all injured in the serial bombings. The six bombings left police in Austin warning residents to not take any chances, saying if it looks suspicious, don't approach it. The timeline below shows all six of the bombings federal officials believe are tied together:  887

Astronaut Nick Hague was ready for a mission that would send him and cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin to the International Space Station to join a crew of three that was already on board the station. But just minutes into last week's flight on board the Soyuz MS-10 craft, the crew needed to abort the mission due to a booster failure. The incident marked the first aborted flight of a Soyuz craft in more than four decades. On Wednesday, Hague described the harrowing moments that followed after the booster's failure. “We were tossed back and forth inside the capsule a little bit and thrusted away from the rocket as soon as the launch abort system had recognized there was a problem with the booster," Hague said. That is when Hague's training and past as a US Air Force pilot kicked in. “My career in the Air Force has done a lot to help me prepare for stressful situations like this, whether it’s through deployments or my time in flight test where we have had to deal with failures in aircraft that you’re in and having to get down on the ground immediately,” he said. “We train endlessly to address those types of situations."After surviving an incident at 30 miles above the ground, Hague plans on making another attempt to visit the International Space Station in 2019.   1338

ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio - The Ashland County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an 8-year-old boy allegedly shot his sister, who is 4-years-old.According to deputies, it happened on Saturday at their home in Hayesville Village.The little girl was taken to the hospital for multiple gunshot wounds and is currently listed in stable condition.The boy was removed from the home, and their mother is now in custody. She has not been formally charged.It’s unclear if the shooting was intentional or accidental. 531
