SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Four men allegedly bringing several dozen pounds of drugs through the coastal North County were arrested today following a road chase from Solana Beach to Carlsbad, authorities said. The pursuit began about 10:30 a.m., when detectives tried to pull over a vehicle with five people in it on Interstate 5 near Lomas Santa Fe Drive, according to sheriff's officials. The driver refused to yield, continuing on to the north for about four miles before exiting onto Encinitas Boulevard, Sgt. Bill Kerr said. There, one of the passengers, 24-year-old Gabriel Albert Delosreyes, got out of the vehicle and allegedly made a futile attempt to escape on foot.As deputies chased down Delosreyes, the fleeing driver -- later identified as Juan Manuel Villalobos, 28 -- got back onto I-5 and went north for several more miles, then exited at La Costa Avenue and headed east along the southern shoreline of Batiquitos Lagoon, Kerr said.Reaching a residential area off Levante Street and Caminito Monarca, just east of El Camino Real, Villalobos pulled over, jumped out of the vehicle and ran off with his remaining companions. One of the four, an unidentified woman, managed to escape, but deputies quickly captured Villalobos along with cohorts Marcos Martinez, 34, and 26-year-old Eddie Anthony Navarro.Inside the trunk of the car Villalobos had been driving, deputies found a truck tire with 25 1/2 pounds of methamphetamine stashed inside it, according to Kerr."Small amounts of other drugs were also found on the suspects,'' the sergeant said. The arrestees were expected to face various criminal charges, including possession of an illicit narcotic for sale, illegal transportation of a controlled substance and conspiracy. 1736

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man accused of sneaking into a Pacific Beach home in the middle of the night and sexually assaulting a sleeping woman pleaded not guilty Monday to three felony charges, including "hot prowl" residential burglary.Jeffrey Hanze, 55, was ordered held on million bail.Deputy District Attorney Jessica Coto told Judge Jay Bloom that Hanze, who was arrested in Los Angeles County last week, has a prior conviction for "hot prowl" burglary and is considered a flight risk.RELATED: Pacific Beach rape suspect arrested in Los Angeles CountyCoto told reporters that Hanze entered the woman's bedroom through an open window about 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 1. The victim awoke to the defendant sexually assaulting her, the prosecutor alleged."As a woman, there is literally nothing more terrifying than the thought of an intruder, a complete stranger, coming into your bedroom in the middle of the night while you're sound asleep and sexually assaulting you," Coto said outside court.Hanze faces 21 years plus life in prison if convicted of sexual assault during a first-degree burglary, digital penetration of an unconscious person and "hot prowl" residential burglary. He will be back in court Nov. 15 for a readiness conference and Nov. 19 for a preliminary hearing.RELATED: Police release photo of Pacific Beach sexual assault suspect 1353

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A motorist who fled a traffic stop in Encanto Tuesday led officers on a 40-minute pursuit that ended with his arrest near Lake Hodges, authorities reported. The man refused to yield when San Diego police tried to pull him over for a traffic violation in the 6800 block of Akins Avenue shortly after 9 a.m., SDPD public-affairs Officer Michael Stirk said. The motorist drove off to the east toward Spring Valley, then entered state Route 125 and headed north, Stirk said.Reaching Santee, the man entered SR-52 and headed west, then merged onto northbound Interstate 15 when he got to the Miramar area. While passing through northern San Diego with SDPD and California Highway Patrol personnel tailing him and tracking his pursuit aboard a police helicopter, the driver managed to avoid running over several spike strips that CHP officers hurled onto the roadway in his path. After entering Escondido, however, the man finally pulled to a stop on the side of the freeway near Ninth Avenue and was taken into custody without further incident about 9:45 a.m., Stirk said. The arrestee's name was not immediately available. 1139

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A San Diego man who provided alcohol to an underage drinker who subsequently caused a crash that killed her passenger was sentenced to 240 days in custody, the City Attorney's Office announced Wednesday. Fraidoon Ahmad gave alcohol to Yolanda Lozano and Mabel Bahena, both 19, on Feb. 17, 2017. Lozano later drove while drunk and collided with a truck on Interstate 15, killing Bahena. Lozano pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and was sentenced to one year in custody, with Bahena's family asking a judge for leniency as the two women had been best friends since grade school. Ahmad pleaded guilty in May to misdemeanor charges of furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 and furnishing alcohol to a minor causing great bodily injury and death. RELATED: Woman who killed best friend in drunk driving crash sentenced to year in jailIn addition to being sentenced Tuesday to 240 days in custody, he will be on probation for three years and must complete nine days of work service, according to the City Attorney's Office. ``Mabel Bahena's young life was cut short, and a family was devastated by defendant's reckless actions,'' City Attorney Mara W. Elliott said. ``We hope this sentence sends a clear message that there will be severe consequences for adults who provide alcohol to minors.'' According to the City Attorney's Office, Lozano and Bahena met up with Ahmad at the Myst Hookah Lounge in the Gaslamp Quarter. Lozano was responding to an ad that Ahmad posted online, seeking prospective employees for a job at a marijuana dispensary. Ahmad gave each woman two glasses of wine and a shot of tequila at the lounge, then met up with him at his East Village apartment, where he served them more alcohol, according to the City Attorney's Office. 1804

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Officials Thursday publicly identified a woman whose body was found floating in Mission Bay last weekend.A visitor to Fiesta Island made an emergency call shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday to report spotting 36-year-old Anita Teres dead in the waters of the manmade harbor south of Pacific Beach, according to San Diego police.``Although there were no obvious traumatic injuries seen (on) the victim, due to the circumstances and the condition of the body ... homicide investigators were called to the scene out of an abundance of caution,'' Lt. Matt Dobbs said. ``Very little is known about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the death at this time.''Authorities have been unable to locate any next of kin for Teres, who was known to frequent Fiesta Island, downtown San Diego, La Mesa and various local trolley stops, according to police. 874
