SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are warning parents in the Carmel Valley area after a man reportedly exposed himself to students walking to school Tuesday.Police say a man was in the passenger side of a parked car on Carmel Creek Road, and exposed and touched himself inappropriately with the car door open. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue crews removed a body from Chollas Lake Monday, fire officials said. The man, identified only as Hispanic and in his mid- to late 20s, was found about noon at the lake at 5850 College Grove Drive in the Oak Park neighborhood. Brianna Yasel and her friends were at the lake and realized something was wrong."I couldn't tell what it was; it looked like a rock to me. Once they pulled it out and flipped it over, my friend was able to see the hand at first and it did look like he was under the water for a while. He just didn't look too good," said Yasel."The body was discovered almost in the center of the lake; a passerby said it looked somewhat suspicious. He noticed it moved by an rock cropping," said San Diego Police Lt. Ernesto Servin.San Diego Police are investigating to determine the cause of death and the man’s identity, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Medical Examiner was also called to the scene.Chollas Lake, which served as a reservoir from 1901 to 1966, is open during daylight hours for recreation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police arrested Tuesday a man wanted on a warrant in Arizona after a short standoff in Golden Hill. Officers said someone called in an anonymous tip to report the 25-year-old man, wanted for a stabbing, was at the home at 3363 A St. When police went to the home, the man opened the door but shut it when he saw officers. Police called a SWAT team to the scene, and the San Diego Unified School District put nearby Golden Hill K-8 school on lockdown. The man surrendered after about one hour and the lockdown was lifted. Officers said a total of eight people were in the home at the time of the standoff.10News is monitoring developments in the story. 687

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in Pacific Beach are tired of the crime in their neighborhood. Some of them say - it's likely a lack of light that emboldens criminals. Wednesday, those neighbors brought the issue up with at a Pacific Beach Planning Group meeting, and offered a unique solution.  "Quality of life crimes are going up."Marcella Teran would know. She's lived here in the area for 30 years."We live by the Pacific Beach library, and there's so much crime over there and drug dealing," she said. "I just didn't feel safe at all."A few houses down, up in a tree above the sidewalk, Teran's neighbor took matters into his own hands."They're LED, solar powered, and it's super bright," she said, pointing out the lights her neighbor put up in front of his home. The best part is, they aren't expensive. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County needs to stay off the state watch list for two weeks straight for most schools to reopen in-person. But, some schools won’t have to wait that long.As of Friday afternoon, 56 elementary schools applied for a waiver through the county health department. If approved, it would allow them to bring students back on campus regardless of our status on the state watch list.The waiver is only open to schools serving K-6 students. Once applications are reviewed by the county they’ll be sent to Sacramento.“The state can give input or guidance,” said Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. “If we don’t hear back in three days then those will be approved.”Mt. Helix Academy in La Mesa submitted their application this week.“I’m hoping to hear back from the state and the county by next week.” Said Director, Mike Collins. “Our plan is to welcome students back on campus on Monday August 31st when we’re ready for those kids.”The school has been open for summer programs where they implemented new safety measures like masks, frequent cleaning, and social distancing.“I saw all the students had their masks on and I made a big deal, ‘Everyone has their masks on! We’re so happy!’” said Collins. “We really try to encourage our students.”For the wavier to get approved the county reviews each applicant’s proposed safety plan. They’re looking for things like having adequate personal protective equipment and if students can be kept in small groups.County Montessori School in Poway has been fine-tuning their safety measures through their summer programs.They took advantage of the waiver process right away.“The application became available last Friday night and we applied Monday,” said Head of School, Adela Corrales. “If our waiver comes through next week we’re prepared to open on site on August 24th”The county told ABC 10News they were still reviewing applications late Friday afternoon and had not sent any to the state for approval yet. 1971
