DENVER — A 16-year-old girl killed her 7-year-old nephew after the boy threw a fit when the girl refused to play video games with him, according to court documents.Seven-year-old Jordan Vong went missing on Aug. 6. His body was found a day later when FBI agents and police obtained a warrant to enter his family’s Montbello home a day later.According to a probable cause statement, the 16-year-old girl accused of killing her nephew told police she pushed Jordan off her bed after he refused to move and amid a crying fit. She then “placed her hand over Jordan's mouth and plugged his nose as Jordan began to struggle for a few minutes."The girl, whom authorities have not yet identified, was arrested last Wednesday after Vong’s body was discovered inside his family’s home Aug. 7, the day after he was killed. On Monday, she was charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse charges.According to the document, the teenage suspect told police that on Aug. 6, Vong went down to her basement bedroom and asked her to play video games with him. When she refused, the boy became upset and laid down on her bed, the document read. She said this made her angry, which caused her to push the boy off her bed “causing him to strike his face on the floor,” the statement read. The document said after Jordan stopped moving, the girl told police she put the body underneath her bed before removing it, wrapping it in a blanket and placing it in a portable closet in her room.She told investigators that she did not say a word to family members about what she allegedly did or where the body was hidden. Vong’s body was found by authorities in the portable closet Tuesday evening amid the execution of a search warrant.According to the probable cause statement, Vong’s body was found with a “towel and comforter around his head, biological matter and blood about his nose, and an unknown imprint on Vong’s chest.” He was first reported missing around 4:30 p.m. Monday.Police said the victim’s mother called 911 and reported her son missing. DEL MAR (CNS) - Horse racing at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has been canceled Thanksgiving Day due to stormy weather forecasts, racing officials announced Sunday. ``With inclement weather predicted to bring substantial rain on Wednesday and Thursday of the coming week, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club proactively canceled its scheduled Thanksgiving Day race card as part of its continuing emphasis on horse and rider safety,'' the club said on Twitter Sunday. Several of the races from Thursday's program, including the 0,000 Grade III Red Carpet Stakes, will be shifted to expanded race cards Saturday and next Sunday. DENVER — Footage from a Ring Bell camera shows a runaway UPS truck careening backward down a street in a Denver neighborhood, and smashing into several parked vehicles.Erika Gaum said she was in her front yard with her young son cleaning out flowerbeds a few minutes before the crash happened on Dec. 2."I had just gone in to put him down for his nap," she said. "About 10 minutes later, I heard this massive explosion."Gaum said she peeked out the front door and saw a UPS truck pushed up against the neighbor's cars.Moments later, another neighbor came out and told her the UPS truck had sideswiped the Gaum's tow truck and trailer, too."After it hit the trailer, it kind of skidded along and then hit the fender and ripped the tire and bent the rim," she said.Gaum added that the impact knocked out rivets, busted a mirror, flattened two tires and knocked out a headlight.The UPS truck then slammed into three parked cars, one of them a Ford Taurus.Gabriela Agustin-Sanchez said her dad had put a lot of hard work and hard-earned cash into fixing up the Taurus."Cars are his passion. He's always working on cars, but that one was one of his most prized possessions, and he was very proud of it," she said.The back of that Taurus is now a crumpled heap of metal, rubber and plastic.According to the police report, the UPS driver, 21-year old Sagar Garung, said he was stopped to make a delivery and when he jumped back in and attempted to start the truck, it failed to start."Then it jumped out of gear and traveled southbound in reverse, at an unknown rate of speed, and collided with (Gaum's truck and the three cars,)" the report stated.Gaum said she and her husband own an auto shop."We're heading into the holidays and this is our work truck, so we kind of need some action," she said.Gaum added that she reached out to UPS several days in a row, to ask about the status of their damage claim, and each time was told "somebody will contact you by the end of the day.""That has yet to happen," she said.KMGH reached out to UPS to ask if there was an issue with the brakes, if the driver is still working for UPS, if there was another person on board the UPS truck, why the delay in reaching out to the victims and if UPS will be taking care of the damage.Matthew O'Connor, the senior manager of media relations, sent an email stating: "We’re thankful that everyone is safe. UPS’s highest priority is the safety of our employees and the communities we serve. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Nine doctors and medical professionals are facing federal drug charges in connection to DEA illegal opioid prescription investigation. Agents raided medical officers across Southern California for "Operation Hypocritical Oath," which targeted doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and clinic operators in California and Nevada. "A stern message to corrupt doctors who seek to profit from spreading addiction," said U.S Attorney Nick Hanna. Among those arrested, Monica Ann Berlin of Del Mar. The Department of Justice says the 41-year-old stole a doctor’s signature stamp and prescription pads to write fraudulent prescriptions.Berlin forged at least 44 prescriptions for controlled substances from April 2015 to 2017, according to the DOJ. According to the criminal filed against her, Berlin sent text messages to her buyer using coded language by describing the drugs as “candies" and “Tic Tacs.”Investigators say the bogus scrips were filed at pharmacies in Rancho Santa Fe and Beverly Hills. The DOJ says 15 people died because of drugs related to some of the practitioners in this investigation and this epidemic remains their top issue. Berlin was released on a million bond and is due back in federal court next month. 1274
