YUMA, Ariz. -- Multiple agencies are investigating after they say a cross-border tunnel between Mexico and the US was discovered leading to a Yuma KFC, according to KGUN.While investigating the abandoned restaurant’s owner for drugs, police stumbled upon the tunnel.On August 13, officers stopped Ivan Lopez for a vehicle violation when they found 168 kilograms of narcotics in two tool boxes.The tool boxes were spotted being removed from the abandoned KFC. Homeland Security agents were able to get a search warrant for Lopez’s home and restaurant.After searching the building, authorities found the tunnel they say measured more than 600-feet long, 5 feet tall and three feet wide.The entryway to the tunnel was found in a “residential compound,” accessed through a door under a bed.At the US entry point, no mechanism was found to climb up the small entryway. Authorities believe the drugs were raised up by a rope, loaded in the tool boxes then taken from the restaurant.The drugs were valued at .2 million in street value. It’s unclear if construction began before or after Lopez purchased the KFC. 1114

Schmaling said a second semi truck heading north tried to avoid the collision causing it to veer off the road and crashed before bursting into flames.The sheriff said they received several 911 calls reporting the crash and explosions. He attributed the explosion sounds to tires in the crash heating up then blowing up."In my 24 years on this job and this is the worst accident I’ve ever been a part of," said Schmaling.The crash shut down I-94 and frontage roads to traffic for several hours causing lenthy back ups. The sheriff said emergency responders had difficulty getting to the scene.Schmaling urged drivers to be cautious driving in extreme construction zones, adding a small mistake can have a devastating impact."These are interstate speeds were talking about and ultimately it cost him his life and the life of another human being, and I hope and pray that the lives of the others are right now in the hospital getting care don’t lose their lives as well. You can help NASA discover new planets.On Wednesday, the agency announced its new website called Planet Patrol, where astronomers can hunt down new worlds, with the public's help.NASA said they’d sort through images collected by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite or TESS for short.“Automated methods of processing TESS data sometimes fail to catch imposters that look like exoplanets,” said project leader Veselin Kostov in a press release. “The human eye is extremely good at spotting such imposters, and we need citizen scientists to help us distinguish between the look-alikes and genuine planets.”TESS captured hundreds of thousands of snapshots over a year, but scientists need help because there are too many pictures to examine.Kostov said that computers are excellent at analyzing data, but sometimes fail to determine potential planets from fakes.Participants will answer questions as they sift through the images to help Kostov and his team of researchers narrow down the list of potential planets. 1027
