It houses several 3D printers which each serve a specific purpose."Digital manufacturing can be extremely useful in a combat situation or a disaster zone because we can take this shelter and deploy it to anywhere it's needed. We're able to provide parts that are not readily available, and we're able to get our equipment operational faster," said Staff Sgt. Samuel Margarini.Rather than ordering a part and waiting up to a week, the Marines can re-create a part within 24 hours, improving readiness and operational momentum.3D printing new parts is also cheaper and saves resources. "Since implementation we've had a huge impact on different platforms, we've made parts for trucks, humvees, tanks, and some drones," said Margarini.While only being used in training, for now, shelters like this will eventually be deployed where needed by the Marine Corps. 1098

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Jury duty service in San Diego County resumed Friday after a lengthy stoppage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.Courtrooms across San Diego County shut down about seven months ago amid state-mandated restrictions. Now, jurors are able to report once again, with a slew of health and safety precautions in place.Because of the virus, courts have had to change the way they operate, and some lawyers believe this will also affect the process of picking a fair jury.Many aspects of the courts have changed, from added safety precautions to transitioning to virtual court.Prior to the pandemic, there were usually 350-400 people that are summoned to serve as jurors at the Central Courthouse in downtown San Diego. Now, that number has been reduced to 18%-20% of the usual capacity to allow for proper social distancing.Just as before, jurors do have the option to delay their service based on a number of factors including financial reasons, being a caretaker, or having a physical or mental condition.Defense attorney Jan Ronis told ABC 10News, “The kinds of options that were previously available now have new options, in respect to vulnerable conditions and age groups, things of that nature … it’s a whole new world.”Ronis said he believes COVID-19 concerns could impact the jury pool that’s available, with more people opting to postpone their service.“A jury of your peers, which represents a cross-section of society, racially, ethnic, gender-wise, diversify, as far as age and demographic, these are hugely important,” said Ronis.It’s just one of the main challenges the courts will have to deal with as they’re already facing a backlog of cases.Ronis added, “Everyone’s been in limbo; people need to get things resolved, criminal and civil litigants and family courts, things of that nature. Timeshares can also be transferred to out-of-town hotels, one year at a time. The county expects many to go at the initial offering price. A timeshare is when a person shares in the ownership of a property with others, so that each gets a week of vacation per year. Many of the timeshares were repossessed after the Great Recession, when owners failed to pay at least five years of property tax. "For one week of family bliss in a vacation once a year, this may be the opportunity for as little as 0," said Dan McAllister, the county treasurer-tax collector. "But it is a buyer beware sale."San Diego attorney Dan Eaton said there are many risks to buying a timeshare, and getting out of one can be very difficult."If you think you're just buying a 0 timeshare and you've got access to the timeshare for life without any further cost, that's a huge mistake," Eaton said. Timeshares include annual fees - including maintenance - that can get very expensive."If you stop paying those fees, they can foreclose," Eaton said.
