SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego organization is set to hold a job fair in City Heights Thursday, giving young adults an opportunity to find employment. The “CONNECT2Careers Spring Job Fair" will be held on March 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fair @ 44 International Market on 4350 El Cajon Boulevard.The job fair is open to anyone ages 16 to 24. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A Scripps Ranch man left for the storm ravaged Caribbean Island of St. Maarten Monday. RELATED: 70 percent of St. Maarten homes badly damaged, as Jose prepares to hitDrew Goodwin is volunteering his time and equipment to help recovery crews with his drones.Irma pounded the islands when it made landfall there last week.“I know (military personnel) are going to help restore order and make things safer so people can get in to start recovery,” Goodwin said.Goodwin is with Emergency Response Drones, a nonprofit that provides drone services to agencies. He’s assisted with search and rescue efforts locally.He raised money so he can fly himself and his equipment to the island.“I have the support and resources, and if I didn’t do it, I would be ashamed of myself,” Goodwin said. 822
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Seattle hiker arrived in San Diego over the weekend, where he'll begin a 2,600-mile trek to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's disease.Toby Gallier's family was first impacted by the disease four years ago when his mom's partner was diagnosed. Gallier's seen the toll it takes on both patient and caregiver.Gallier will be hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, a grueling five-month trek that will take him through desert, forest and mountains.He's raising money for "The Longest Day" fundraiser through the Alzheimer's Association - you can donate here.You can also follow along on his journey here, Gallier will be posting blog updates whenever he can find WiFi.On Monday the San Diego/Imperial Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association greeted and thanked Gallier for his commitment to this cause. 827
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman died after crashing into a tree in Mira Mesa Sunday morning. According to California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving north on I-15 when she veered off the road, striking a tree and a light pole near Carroll Canyon Road around 1:18 a.m. The woman died at the scene, according to CHP. The agency says a man was riding in the passenger seat at the time of the crash. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. At this time, it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol may been involved. 524
