BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- China would continue to adopt the proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy next year and endeavor to improve the economic growth quality, according to the Central Economic Work Conference Monday.     Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao addressed the meeting, which is held once a year to set the tone for economic development during the next year.     It was agreed at the conference that 2010 is the last year in the counry's 11th five-year plan, and to do a good job in the country's economic and social development next year was of great importance to dealing with the impact of the international financial crisis successfully in an all-around way and laying a sound foundation for China's 12th five-year plan. BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The output value of China's energy saving and environmental protection industry would hit 2.8 trillion yuan (412 billion U.S. dollars) by 2012, said Xie Zhenhua, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission on Sunday.     Those sectors have become a new economic growth point and have bright prospects in China, Xie said at the fourth China-Japan Energy-saving and Environment Protection Forum which began Sunday.     He said the government will beef up investment in the construction of resource recycling projects, which will directly boost the industry development.     He noted the government will further reform the pricing system of the resource products.     Enterprises should also enhance innovation to break technological bottleneck notably in the development of clean coal transfer technology and pollutants treatment facilities.     China has been pushing for a national energy saving campaign to address the worsening conflicts between economic growth and environmental deterioration.

BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Premium of China's insurance companies hit 1.02 trillion yuan (149.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months of this year, up 11.65 percent from a year earlier, according to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission Thursday.     The year would be the first year that China's insurance premiums exceeded 1 trillion yuan, data from the commission showed.     From January to November, premium of property insurance rose 22.28 percent year on year to 264.02 billion yuan, and that of life insurance was 757.66 billion yuan, an annual increase of 8.37percent.     The commission said the country's insurance firms were expected to eye combined profits at 46.09 billion yuan in the first 11 months, an increase of 57.45 billion yuan over the same period of last year.     Profits of the country's insurers nationwide was about 26.1 billion yuan in the first half, up 98 percent, the commission said in July.

BRASILIA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Thursday called for closer cooperation between China and Latin American countries to bring more benefits to both sides.     Addressing the Brazilian National Congress, Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said it is a firm and steady foreign policy of the Chinese government to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Latin American countries.
