(KGTV) — A crash victim is hoping to track down the roadside "angel" who went above and beyond.On Friday afternoon just east of the I-15 on Old Castle Road in Valley Center, Sarah Rozenko says she was in her Volvo sedan, driving back from the grocery store and squarely in her lane. "It was like being hit with a dump truck full force," said Rozenko.It wasn't a dump truck, but a car, that hit the side of her car. It sent her spinning into a rocky embankment. She climbed out, bruised and dazed."She came out of nowhere and pulled up," said Rozenko.'She' was a passerby who told Rozenko she was an EMT. The woman, believed in her 40s or 50s, can be seen her in a photo snapped by Rozenko of the crash scene."Immediately took over calming me down, checking me out. Took over phone conversation with 9-1-1, as I was so shook up. She covered me with a blanket," said Rozenko.Rozeno says in her shock, she kept telling the woman about the surprise dinner she had planned for her husband. The stranger listened, and calmed her down."Just reassuring. I believe I would have had a panic attack had she not been there," said Rozenko.About 15 minutes after the stranger arrived, so did the firefighters and paramedics. There was a hurried exchange. "She yelled, 'What's your address?' as I am being loaded into the ambulance. I shouted it to her," said Rozenko.Some nine hours later, after Rozenko returned home from the hospital, she learned the mystery woman had collected her belongings from the car - along with all the groceries - and dropped it all off at her home with her landlord. "I was blown away. It's not every day that somebody goes out of their way to do something for you. She's my road accident angel for sure," said Rozenko.Now she's on a mission to find her angel."I really want to thank you thank you, thank you, thank you. Two men are in jail after police say they stole a car -– with an infant inside.About 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business in Boise, Idaho.“Evidence indicates that a car had been left running outside of a store, when it was stolen by two men,” according to a Boise Police Department news release. A 6-month-old infant was in the car when it was stolen. A parent pursued the car, until the driver stopped several blocks away.“One of the men exited with the child, who was still strapped into the infant car seat.  (The parent) safely took the child from the man. Thankfully, the child was unharmed,” the release stated.The suspect, later identified as Raymundo Gutierrez, 23, of Boise, was detained at the scene until officers arrived.  The other male fled in the stolen vehicle, officers said.Gutierrez was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with accessory to grand theft, a felony.About 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Boise Police received information that the stolen vehicle had been recovered in Canyon County -- and the driver, later identified as Robert DeShazo, was booked into the Canyon County Jail. He’s charged with felony possession of stolen property and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor.  Authorities said both suspects could face additional charges.          1396

Twitter is about to get more words -- a lot more.The company announced on Tuesday it is doubling how many characters users can cram into a tweet.Most tweets will now fit 280 characters, up from 140. The new limit will roll out to Twitter users in almost all 40 languages Twitter supports.In late September, Twitter began a test of 280-character tweets with a small group of users.Like many Twitter changes, some users complained about the move.Interestingly, Twitter said that after the novelty of tweeting more characters wore off, most people in the test stopped tweeting the full length.According to the company, only 5% of tweets sent from people in the 280-character test group were longer than 140 characters, and just 2% were over 190 characters.The new character length won't apply to Japanese, Korean or Chinese-language tweets. Those languages can convey twice as much information in less space, so tweets will remain at 140 characters, Twitter said.Of course, the change means America's highest-profile Twitter user, President Trump, will have more space. Twitter cofounder Biz Stone had said the prolific Twitter user was not in the test group.The move modifies a fundamental aspect of Twitter. Aside from the test, the social network's character limit hasn't changed since the company launched in 2006.The 140-character length wasn't a random choice: Twitter's founders wanted tweets to fit in a text message, which can only hold 160 characters. So Twitter chose 140 characters for the tweet, and 20 characters for the user name.During the 280-character test, some users argued Twitter should focus less on the length of the tweets and more on the content. It's taking people four to six weeks to get see a vet in some cases.That has pet owners turning to pet emergency rooms to get care faster, but now those ERs are overwhelmed as well.It's a trend we're seeing nationwide.“Come in at 10 o’clock, there's eight or 10 cars out in the parking lot, because they can't get into see their veterinarian,” said Dr. Pat Kennedy Arrington, owner of Jefferson Animal Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. “Really is a perfect storm of activity right now of difficulty. Normally, we slow down in August and we haven't slowed down.While summer is typically a busy time for animal hospitals, Arrington says she’s seeing a lot of people she’s never seen before.DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland, Oregon, is seeing this demand as well. In July, their growth was up nearly 30% over the same time last year. In august it was still up 12%.People are having to wait two to six hours with their pets, even up to 10 hours in some cases.“The restriction for protocols of letting people in the building and staying outside and parking outside and having to do a lot of conversations over the phone, everything just takes longer to do,” said Ron Morgan, President and CEO of DoveLewis. “And that's in general practice too.”“Most people are very gracious and appreciative that we're here and mad at their vet for not seeing them in some cases,” said Arrington. “It's unlike anything we've ever seen before.”The number of people who have gotten pets during the pandemic is part of what is making them busier too. Also, with people at home more, they're noticing more potential issues with their pets.Cost is something you need to be aware of. ER exam fees are typically a little higher than a regular vet visit.Some hospitals offer financial assistance or care credit may be an option for you. It's a credit card you can apply for to use for pet expenses.The demand at ERs is also taking a toll on the veterinarians and staff.“So, I think psychologically right now, without that kind of ‘when is this going to slow down’ mentality, that adds to the burden no doubt,” said Morgan.There was already a national staffing shortage in the industry before the pandemic, so that isn't helping the situation.DoveLewis has a clinical social worker who's helping address the mental health needs of its staff.Jefferson Animal Hospital has rewarded its staff extra pay during part of the pandemic. 2463
