The Board of Supervisors voted 10-1 Tuesday to approve the ordinance making San Francisco the largest city in the country to ban tobacco smoking inside apartments, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.The original proposal sought to ban residents from smoking marijuana in their apartments. But supervisors voted to exclude marijuana after cannabis activists said the law would take away their only legal place to smoke. “Unlike tobacco smokers who could still leave their apartments to step out to the curb or smoke in other permitted outdoor smoking areas, cannabis users would have no such legal alternatives,” said Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, who wrote the amendment to exempt cannabis.It’s illegal under state law to smoke cannabis in public places.San Francisco now joins 63 California cities and counties with such a ban.The ordinance must pass a second vote of the board next week and the mayor must sign it. (KGTV) — FBI investigators are asking the public for help finding the suspect who robbed a Chase Bank location in San Marcos on Wednesday.The FBI and San Diego Sheriff's Department say the suspect entered the Chase Bank at 348 South Twin Oaks Valley Road at about 11:45 a.m. and waited in line. He approached the counter and produced a handwritten note that said, "Give me all your 50's and 100's and give me the note back."The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the scene on foot.Investigators described the suspect as a white male, between 25 and 30 years old, standing 5' 11", and with a thin build. (KGTV) -- A 70-year-old U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer was arrested Wednesday after prosecutors say he strangled a traveler in San Ysidro.Prosecutors say while on duty, Harvey Booker, 70, strangled a traveler at the San Ysidro Port of Entry that resulted in “bodily harm.”No details on what led up to the incident were released about the July 8 incident.“There is no excuse for law enforcement officials to abuse the significant trust and power placed in them,” said U.S. Attorney Adam Braverman. “Law enforcement takes great pride in protecting the civil rights of all people. (KGTV) - Voters are expressing confusion and frustration after receiving a mailer titled 'COPS Voter Guide.'Brandon Salgado was sorting through the mail this past weekend at his grandfather’s home in Santee when he saw the political mailer."It’s got the badge, says 'COPS Voter Guide.' On the back it says 'COPS' and it's red and blue. Looks like something law enforcement would back," said Salgado.Salgado has family members that work in and with law enforcement, and took a closer look at the mailer’s list of ‘priority’ propositions. At the top, next to Prop 16, which involves the issue of affirmative action, is the word 'NO,' and an arrow pointing to a mailer's description of the proposition: 'For Racial Equality.'"I was shocked that someone should put out that law enforcement is 'No' for racial equality. Just didn’t sit well with me. It’s a bad look, bad optics," said Salgado.Salgado, who thought the mailer had police backing, then saw the fine print, which says 'This organization does not represent any public safety personnel.'So what does it represent?A video on the the COPS Voter Guide website says the Folsom-based group is a non-partisan, public advocacy organization.“The candidates we support have pledged to make public safety a top priority,” explains the group's director in the video.During the 2016 presidential election, the Modesto Bee described it as a 'pay-to-play mailer,' disguising advertisements as endorsements.
