(AP) - Lake Elsinore’s Walker Canyon, site of a magnificent super bloom of poppies, reopened Monday after “Disneyland size crowds” overwhelmed the small Southern California city, creating what officials called a “miserable situation.” Social media photos showed heavy traffic on Interstate 15 near Lake Street and Nichols Road Sunday, where many visitors stopped and parked illegally to enjoy the flower fields. The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert Monday and shut down the Lake Street offramp to control the situation. Despite the start of the work week, the number of visitors remained high Monday due to spring break, according to Nicole Dailey, assistant to the Lake Elsinore city manager. Dailey was not able to estimate the amount of people traveling to the flower fields. Lake Elsinore businesses saw a boost, Dailey reported, but it has been “too much of an increase.” Starbucks emailed city officials saying they were overwhelmed by the demand and couldn’t keep up. “This weekend has become unbearable Lake Elsinore,” city officials posted, adding “it has been miserable and has caused unnecessary hardships for our entire community.” Lake Elsinore also reached out to other law enforcement agencies for assistance. “We have brought in all available staff, as many outside traffic controllers that we could, more shuttles, and our small City can not sustain crowds of this magnitude,” city officials said on Instagram. “We have reached out to our neighboring and county agencies for help. We have reached out to Caltrans. We have reached out to CHP. Lawyers for Breonna Taylor allege in court records that she was targeted in a police operation to gentrify a neighborhood in western Louisville. Taylor was shot and killed back in March by Louisville Metro Police officers when police conducted a “no-knock raid” on her home. Thinking the police officers were intruders, Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, allegedly shot at police.Officers returned fire, striking, and killing Taylor.According to the lawsuit, which was filed Sunday in Jefferson Circuit Court on behalf of Taylor's family, lawyers said there were plans underway for a "high dollar, legacy-creating real estate development" for Elliot Avenue. Taylor's ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Cordell Glover was renting a home on the street and it created a "roadblock" for the project, court documents stated."The police unit's efforts to clean house on Elliott became so outrageous, unlawful, corrupt, and reckless that a bogus, no-knock search warrant was obtained for the home of Breonna Taylor, a woman with no criminal history, no drugs in her home, no targets in her home, and whose home was more than 10 miles from Elliott Avenue," lawyers stated in the court documents.Lawyer's Ben Crump and his co-counselors Sam Aguiar and Lonita Baker issued a statement about the refiling.“Connecting the dots, it’s clear that these officers should never have been at Breonna Taylor’s home in the first place, and that they invaded the residence with no probable cause," they said in a joint press release. "The officers who robbed Breonna of her life -- and Tamika Palmer of her daughter -- exhibited outrageous, reckless, willful, wanton, and unlawful conduct. LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A teenager died Sunday after being shot at a mall in Lexington, Kentucky. The Fayette County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 17-year-old Kenneth Wayne Bottoms Jr., of Lexington. Bottoms was transported UK Medical Center at about 4 p.m where he was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m.Two other victims were also injured in the shooting, which police say happened in front of a Bath and Body Works at Fayette Mall. Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said at least one of the victims and a suspect knew each other. They may have had an interaction prior to the shooting.Officers are currently interviewing witnesses. No suspects are in custody at this point.Scripps station WLEX interviewed one Lexington shopper who was inside Bath and Body Works. She says she witnessed an argument outside of the shop that escalated when someone pulled out a gun."Held it up at face level... and he shot four shots off," said the shopper.The shopper, who wished to remain anonymous, says she was escorted with others toward the back of the store."We stayed in the bathroom until police got us out of the service door to Bath and Body Works, and they walked us around all of the blood to take us outside," said the shopper.Mark Thomas was inside his shop, Bourbon Creek, when he saw a group of people run by with sheer panic on their faces. His store was packed at the time, so the retired Lexington police detective quickly jumped into action."We had several customers that were wanting to leave, and we have a back door into the parking lot, so we were able to help evacuate people through the store.
