A 26-year-old tattoo artist was arrested on sexual abuse and assault charges after an incident involving an intoxicated teen last month.According to police documents, a 19-year-girl was offered a free thigh tattoo at the Dark Side Tattoo shop in Phoenix. Arturo Emmanuel Palafox and the victim were reportedly alone in the shop when he was giving the teen her tattoo on March 16, 2018. The pair reportedly left to get a bottle of Crown Royal and were both drinking during the incident. Police paperwork says Palafox engaged in unwanted sexual contact and intercourse with the intoxicated victim several times, photographed her and was seen on surveillance video stirring her drink when she left the room. The victim reportedly noticed a green powdery substance in her cup when she returned from a trip to the bathroom. A family member of the victim contacted ABC15 and said the victim could not remember portions of the incident, matching similar reports from police paperwork. Police say the victim contacted her sister during the incident and said she had been raped. Her sister showed up at the tattoo shop and was eventually able to take her from the scene. She alerted police that Palafox was leaving the shop and police were able to detain him during a traffic stop. Evidence collected included a small bag of green powder, a bottle of alcohol, unopened condoms and surveillance footage from the tattoo shop.Palafox was booked into jail on 15 counts of felony sex assault, six counts of felony sex abuse, one count of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful recording and one count of kidnapping.  1669

(KGTV) - San Diegans looking to find a new job - or get a better one - will soon have a new resource to help them get there. Goodwill Industries San Diego is finishing a more than 4,000 square-foot job training center in San Ysidro, which it plans to open Sept. 13. The 0,000 facility is replacing the organization's rack store at 630 Front St. in San Ysidro, which moved to a new location. The center will offer free career counseling, meeting spaces for interviews, open computers, and even job fairs - all free to San Diegans looking for work, or a bigger paycheck. RELATED: California is the sixth-worst state for retirement."So even if they get a job, that job that just puts food on the table, we want them to continue to come to us so that we can support them, so they can get that better job," said Toni Giffin, CEO of Goodwill Industries of San Diego County. The state reports that there are still about 58,000 San Diegans who are unemployed, even with the jobless rate near a record low of 3.7 percent. A 5th grade teacher may have been forced out because she wears a hijab.That’s the allegation against Melvindale/Northern Allen Park School District in a lawsuit filed this past week.The lawyer for Amirah Mosed said the way she was treated at work at Allendale Elementary School isn't right and in the lawsuit they allege Mosed was subjected to a hostile environment where she was told to “get a job in Dearborn” among other things, harassment that they say is against the law. “This is a woman who’s born in the U.S, who is very American and a wonderful teacher and just a great person with a sense of humor, a delightful human being,” attorney David Nacht said.Nacht said his client endured religious discrimination while she taught 5th grade.In the lawsuit against the district there are allegations Mosed was told by supervisors to resign or get fired, to “get a job in Dearborn,” told her students were not safe with her, all because she is of Yemini descent and dresses, culturally, in a hijab.”It got worse and the students loved her and she was written up and fired and it’s bologna. and its not America,” Nacht said.The allegations are discrimination and harassment on the basis of her religion. Nacht said there were no legitimate concerns about her teaching abilities.“She was just not perceived to fit the community to fit the school,” Nacht said. “What this case is really about making America safe in the workplace, for all Americans. A 36-year-old man who was suffering from chronic heart failure shocked doctors when he coughed up a blood clot closely resembling the bronchial tree in his right lung in late November.Georg Wieselthaler, a transplant and pulmonary surgeon at the University of California at San Francisco told the Atlantic: “We were astonished. It’s a curiosity you can’t imagine—I mean, this is very, very, very rare.”Per the New England Journal of Medicine, the man was an ICU patient at the University of San Francisco Medical Center being treated for end-stage heart failure.During the week of the patient's hospitalization, the man had periodic episodes of coughing, which progressed to one extreme coughing fit when he suddenly expelled the unusual clot. After being supplied oxygen via a tube, the man's coughing ceased two days later, leading to the removal of the tube.
