AURORA, Colo. — An Aurora police officer has been suspended for one week following a well-publicized incident in which the white officer pulled a gun on an Indian American doctor who was trying to park at a refugee center the doctor operates.The Sentinel reports that Officer Justin Henderson with the Aurora Police Department was suspended for 40 hours without pay and ordered to attend de-escalation training for his March 1 confrontation with Dr. P.J. Parmar.Parmar, who is Indian American, says he's disappointed with the punishment and that he believes his race affected how Henderson treated him.His attorney has said he plans to file a federal lawsuit against the city.In a June interview, Parmar told Scripps station KMGH in Denver that he wants to see reforms made in the Aurora Police Department.He said on March 1 that he was moving Boy Scout gear from the Mango House — a shared space for refugees and asylees — to another property, when he noticed a police car parked in his ground-level garage, partially blocking the exit. Pamar said he honked his car.Pamar then claims the officer jumped out of the vehicle, swore at him and pulled out a gun as he ran toward the car.Pamar then started recording the interaction on his phone. It shows Pamar asking Henderson to leave his property."No, I'm going to figure out whose property this is first," Henderson said.At one point, Parmar said Henderson pointed a gun at his face."The gun pointed at me — it was scary, but it's not what hurt the most," Parmar said in June. ASHEVILLE, North Carolina (WLOS) —Police have identified their suspect after a standoff put multiple establishments near the well-known Biltmore Estate on lockdown Wednesday morning.Asheville Police say they entered a foot pursuit with Gary Adrian Church, 42, of Ronda, N.C., at approximately 9:34 a.m. local time. Church had open warrants for several robberies in Asheville, as well as Burke and Iredell Counties.The suspect fled on foot and into the woods behind the DoubleTree Hotel and TGIFriday’s in Biltmore Village.As a safety precaution, several businesses in the area, including MAHEC, DoubleTree Hotel, TGIFriday’s and the Hampton Inn were all placed on lockdown.The Asheville Police Department’s Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the area and stayed in constant communication with Church. ATLANTA - In a memo this week, Delta Airlines’ CEO told staff nearly 700 passengers have been placed on the no-fly list in 2020 for refusing to comply with policies requiring masks on planes.This is a sharp increase from the 460 banned passengers the airline reported in October. Delta and other airlines have been adding mask rule-breaking passengers to the no-fly list since early in the pandemic.Delta is not alone, latest numbers from United report about 430 passengers of that airline have been added to the no-fly list for not following their mask policy, and 88 have been banned from JetBlue flights.A Department of Defense study found that masks, combined with airplanes’ air filtration systems, can greatly reduce the risk of transmitting the coronavirus during a flight.While that sounds like a lot of passengers, Delta told Fox News they are flying about 1 million customers per week.In the message to staff Wednesday, Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian thanked employees for taking unpaid leave and manage reductions in hours earlier this year, which helped them be one of the few airlines that avoided involuntary furloughs. Ground workers and headquarters employees were cut to three or four days a week.However, he is now asking employees again to take unpaid leaves of absence to help the company save money, according to the staff memo. For years, the man who we are calling 'D' thought he was in a caring online relationship, but just last month, he found out it was all a scam."I was a little lonely. I was needing some attention or I guess I just wanted some," said D.It started 5 years ago. Divorced, he had turned to date apps Skout and Meet Me to fill that emotional void and met Brandy Bowens from Canada. It seemed like an innocent relationship for a while, but then she started asking him to be the middle man for her "art business"."By me already being invested in our conversations and our online relationships, I kind of felt it was okay for me to do these things that they wanted," said D.So he started getting money transferred to his bank account that he would then send out in cashiers checks."I had received three wire transfers of over 0,000 and these monies they claimed were for their business," said D. It kept adding up... and then she asked for his money.It all came to a head last month when he got a call from the FBI saying it was all a scam; his ,000 was gone."It's hard. I lost the money and it messed up everything in a financial way for me. I'm trying to build my credit back, just so much that that has screwed up for me," said D.FBI Special Agent Jeffrey Reising said these scams are even more common now during the pandemic because criminals are taking advantage of government programs like unemployment and funneling the money through romance scam victims, like D."Just red flags, like 'Why am I getting unemployment in other people's names in my account? Why am I getting tens of thousands of dollars in my account'?" said Reising.Other red flags to look for are if they can never meet in person, or even answer phone calls, if they don’t have a real voicemail or if they ask for your bank account."Why can I not talk to this person face to face using some of the technology available? Why can’t I interact? Why is all of our communication on a text?" said Reising.It’s red flags D saw, but the scammer could explain away."Saying 'my phone is broke' or 'my camera doesn’t work'," said D.Now he’s sharing his story, hoping that especially during this virtual time, he can stop others from falling victim."Be cautious. If you get that flag, if you don’t get the answer for that flag, then you need to leave it alone," said D.
