BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday raised a four-point proposal to boost collaboration with Malaysia so as to jointly tackle the global financial crisis.     China and Malaysia should insist on the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, take each other's concern into consideration and achieve common development, Wen said to visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak during their meeting at the Great Hall of the People.     Wen raised a four-point proposal for further cooperation between the two countries, which included promoting trade diversification, enhancing mutual investment, deepening financial cooperation and safeguarding financial stability, and strengthening coordination on regional affairs. Trade between the two countries reached 39.06 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, up 10.3 percent year on year.     This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. Wen said that China is ready to work with Malaysia to take this opportunity to promote their relations.     Malaysia was the first ASEAN member country to forge diplomatic relations with China 35 years ago under then Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak, Najib's late father.     Najib said it is his honor of choose China as the first non-ASEAN destination since he took office in April. "This shows that Malaysia attaches great importance to the development of Malaysia-China relations."     Najib noted that his visit is aimed at further accelerating the development of the bilateral ties and strengthening cooperation.     Najib said he agree with Wen's proposal on advancing Malaysia-China relations, saying Malaysia, on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit, is ready to enhance cooperation with China in the fields of economy, finance, resources, energy and infrastructure construction.     After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral agreements on cooperation.     Najib received a special gift from the Chinese side: a photo of his late father and Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai when the two established diplomatic ties between China and Malaysia in 1974.     Najib received an honorary doctorate in international relations from the Beijing Foreign Studies University at the opening ceremony of an international seminar on the dialogue between Chinese and Malaysian civilizations here Wednesday.

TAIPEI, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Former Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian has been indicted on new corruption charges, prosecutors said here Tuesday.     While in office, Chen and his wife Wu Shu-chen took 10 million New Taiwan dollars (302,000 U.S. dollars) in bribes from a local businesswoman, and demanded bribes and donations totaling 300 million New Taiwan dollars from a former banker, prosecutors said at a press conference.     Chen was first indicted on Dec. 12 for money laundering and bribery. He and his wife were charged with embezzling 104 million New Taiwan dollars (3.15 million U.S. dollars) in public funds and accepting bribes of at least 9 million U.S. dollars in a land purchase deal. Chen and his collaborators are also accused of laundering the illegal income.     Chen has been in detention since last December and faces life in prison if convicted.     He was elected to the post of Taiwan leader eight years ago but was ousted in an election in May last year.

XI'AN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has urged the country's college students to find grassroots jobs in less developed regions as the economic downturn increases pressures in employment market.     Visiting Xi'an, capital of central Shaanxi Province, from Friday to Sunday, Wen said employment was one of the government's priorities for the sake of the country's economy and for the future of individuals.     "College students, laid-off workers and migrant workers waiting for jobs are my biggest concern," Wen told job hunters at an employment center.     He encouraged graduates from universities and colleges to find work in grassroots regions, and called on employers to create more jobs.     Since the second half of last year, the government has implemented a series of policies to create jobs. The State Council, or Cabinet, also decided to give living allowances to graduates who went to the central and western regions for internships.     Everyone should have a resolute belief that they should try their best no matter what their job was, Wen told students at Xi'an Jiaotong University. BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- China and Kuwait signed five agreements here on Sunday in an effort to further the bilateral relations to a higher level.     The agreements covered fields of energy, finance, telecommunication, transportation and education, according a press release from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. However, the press release does not give details about the agreements, only emphasizing they are among the positive steps to push foreword the bilateral relations.     Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah witnessed the signing ceremony after they conferred on the bilateral ties and other issues of common concern.
