They follow guidance released earlier this year from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.The document lists eight recommendations for schools:Ensure all students, teachers, and staff understand the symptoms of COVID-19 and its risk factors.Require all students, teachers, and staff to self-assess their health every morning before coming to school; if they are symptomatic they should consult their physician.Encourage frequent handwashing or hand sanitizing during the school day, beginning upon entrance to the school, by ensuring that handwashing facilities are widely available throughout the school.Minimize large indoor group gatherings; hold large gatherings outdoors whenever possible.Maintain high standards of hygiene and ventilation within all classrooms, including keeping windows and doors open and running fans and AC units whenever possible.Require students, teachers, and staff to socially distance around high-risk individuals.Encourage the use of masks when social distancing is not possible.Liberally post instructions regarding hygiene and social distancing around the school.There are also recommendations for high-risk teachers and students, including giving these individuals options to stay home.“Provide high-risk students, or students who have high-risk family members, the choice to stay home and engage in distance learning,” the guidance states.The policy is a set of recommendations and not mandatory for schools to reopen. The University of San Diego's head men's basketball coach Lamont Smith was arrested Sunday in the Bay Area and is facing three domestic violence charges, according to public records released by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department.Allen Lamont Smith, 42, was arrested at Oakland International Airport prior to the USD basketball team's flight back to San Diego following a 64-61 win over the University of San Francisco in last night's regular season finale.Officers were dispatched to the team hotel near Union Square late last night on reports of a domestic violence disturbance.The victim told police she was intimately involved with Smith. She was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.USD released a statement to Scripps station KGTV in San Diego, stating "We are aware of the report of allegations related to Lamont Smith. The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces have detained a US citizen who had been fighting with ISIS in Syria, a US military official told CNN Thursday.The official added that it appeared that the American citizen surrendered to Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces.A spokesperson for the US-led coalition fighting ISIS would not confirm that a US citizen was in the custody of the SDF, referring questions to the US State Department."We have seen those same reports and the SDF as our partner has taken an oath to make sure that any fighters that they capture that they maintain them and bring them to the proper authorities. In this case the proper authorities would be the equivalent of the department of state in the country," Col.
