SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students at the University of California San Diego are still reeling from Wednesday's storm that flooded more than a dozen apartments.Students told 10News they were shocked when water poured in around 11 p.m. during the storm. One young man, who didn't want to be identified, said the water seeped in under the door and poured in through a floor-length window in their bedroom."So every angle yeah, it instantly started soaking everything under my bed," he said, adding the water was freezing cold.RELATED: Rain floods buildings on the campus of UC San DiegoHe took videos documenting the two inches of water that seeped in."If I wasn't here, then every bit of electronics we had out here would've been completely ruined, hundreds of dollars worth of stuff," the man told 10News.Another student shared her experience, saying she was walking back to her dorm after studying and found "about a 4-foot deep puddle leading up to my door." She said once she opened the door mud and water flowed in.She said the timing was terrible."I have a midterm Monday, I'm actually getting tutoring right after this, it's a bit crazy."Students scrambled, trying to get help from the university and relocate. One student told 10News she never got help from the university, despite calling multiple times Wednesday night and getting a case number.Thursday morning cleaning companies went to work, installing fans in the rooms and peeling off baseboards.Some students said the university is doing a great job."Is there something we can brainstorm to fix this so it doesn't happen in the future, because I can only imagine what's going to happen next week when it rains harder and I'd hate to come back from break and see, 'oh everything's damaged." a student said.The university said four students were relocated to temporary housing. A University official said the drains in the area were examined before the storm and the torrential downpour was the cause of the flooding. 1981

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff’s Department has released documents requested by ICE.Under the California Values Act or Sanctuary laws, the Sheriff’s Department is not allowed to help ICE find or arrest undocumented immigrants.But, Sheriff Bill Gore says the subpoenas that ICE issued last week, requires them to release the records. Congress granted ICE the use of these special subpoenas giving the agency more power to get the information from local authorities.RELATED: ICE subpoenas San Diego Sheriff's Department for migrant arrest dataThe records requested are for four men all from Mexico: A 40-year-old arrested in San Diego last December for sex abuse of a child under 14. A 28-year-old arrested in January for assaulting his spouse and child. A 42-year-old arrested last November for first degree robbery. And a 31-year-old man arrested last December for spousal abuse and false imprisonment. The first two remain in custody. While the last two were released into the community.A spokesperson from ICE sent a statement saying in part, “The California sanctuary laws forces the Sheriff’s Department to release many criminal aliens to the street rather than transfer to ICE custody which they say threatens public safety and national security since many will re-offend leading to more victims.”Sheriff Gore says they want to make sure they follow the rules but make sure they protect all of those that live in the county.“We’re not the immigration police, we’re here to protect the undocumented people in the county just like everyone else. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department says deputies arrested a wanted man on Sunday who was openly carrying a loaded rifle in the East County.Lakeside deputies were called after witnesses reported a man walking around with a loaded M4 rifle around his chest, according to the department. Deputies responded and took the man and his weapon into custody. SDSO said the man was a wanted parolee and that he had a felony warrant stemming from a case involving an assault with a deadly weapon.It is also illegal for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm in California, the department added.The parolee's identity was not released. 658

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Unified School District officials confirmed to 10News Thursday that a teacher has been placed on leave while investigators look into accusations that he exposed a sixth-grade class to pornography.Officials said they were first notified Monday after a parent reported the alleged incident happened during a physical education class at Horace Mann Middle School, located at 4345 54th Street in San Diego."San Diego Unified is investigating the incident that allegedly occurred at Mann Middle School. The employee has been placed on leave pending the investigation,” district officials said.The district said it has spoken with at least 10 students regarding the report. There were at least 24 students in the class.District officials and district police are investigating."It's reprehensible," Craig Tinson, whose 12-year-old grandson attends the school, said. "Becuase the students are very impressionable. They're looking for adults to be the leader and unfortunately, it was compromised on this occasion."A parent of one of the students told 10News that her son was in the class when the teacher allegedly showed the students an adult video of a man and woman engaged in sexual activities.
