I want you to know exactly where we are with our discussions with the Big 3 leadership and protecting our members and their facilities during this international crisis.I announced this past Sunday that the International UAW had formed a COVID-19/Coronavirus task force with GM, Ford and FCA to implement enhanced protections for manufacturing and warehouse employees at all three companies.I want to be very transparent about what happened during our conversation Sunday with the Big 3. The UAW leadership, based on the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations on how to protect ourselves and our communities, requested a two-week shutdown of operations to safeguard our members, our families and our communities. Your UAW leadership feels very strongly, and argued very strongly, that this is the most responsible course of action.The companies, however, were not willing to implement this request. They asked for 48 hours to put together plans to safeguard workers in their facilities. (Ford Motor Company has indicated this week that they are willing to rotate down shifts and are planning to shut down all European operations next week.)The 48-hour window is up this afternoon. We will be evaluating what the companies submit today and there will be a meeting this evening at 6 p.m., where the Task Force will review plans for the safety and health of all members, their families and our communities.I want to be very clear here: If the UAW leadership on the task force, myself and Vice Presidents Cindy Estrada, Terry Dittes and Gerald Kariem, are not satisfied that our members will be protected, we will take this conversation to the next level.These companies will be put on notice that the UAW will use any and all measures to protect our brothers and sisters who are working in their facilities. And make no mistake, we have powerful allies who have stepped up to help us. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, despite what you might have heard in some recent erroneous reports, was instrumental in assisting us in bringing the Big 3 to the table, as was U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell.I know these are very difficult days for all of us. BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — An Oklahoma woman's post on social media is going viral after she said she took her dog to a PetSmart store to get groomed only to learn it suffered a broken jaw."I'm very emotional," Tania Lara, the owner of the dog, said. "I feel scared."Lara says in her Facebook post that about an hour after she dropped off her dog Susie to get groomed at PetSmart on Hillside Drive in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, she received a phone call from a store employee who said the dog was not doing well."Something really bad was going on," Lara said. The dog owner said when she arrived at the store, the dog was bleeding and was unable to close her mouth. "She was in a lot of pain," Lara said. "She was touching her face and she was crying."The woman said she was told employees attempted to take Susie to the in-store vet, but the vet was busy. She adds they also told her Susie had dental problems.Lara said she immediately took her dog to the veterinarian, who said the dog's jaw had been broken in two places."She [had] to be hospitalized during the weekend," Lara said. "She has a feeding tube in."The dog underwent surgery on Monday. BROWARD COUNTY, Florida — The brother of the accused Parkland shooter told deputies he went to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School three times since his brother allegedly committed a deadly shooting there in February, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.“I just went there to take it all in,” Zachary Cruz can be heard saying to deputies on recently released Broward Sheriff’s Office body worn camera footage. Cruz was arrested for trespassing on school grounds on March 19 despite being warned to keep away from the school, according to a BSO report.Over the radio, a deputy relayed that the brother of the deadly school shooting suspect was spotted riding through the Parkland school campus on his skateboard.The Broward Sheriff's Office released body-worn camera footage and radio transmission from their investigation into Cruz for trespassing.  In the video, Cruz is seen talking to deputies on the side of 10100 Holmberg Road in Parkland. Deputies say multiple people told law enforcement they saw Cruz riding on his skateboard at Stoneman Douglas High.“You can't go on the school property," a deputy told Cruz in the video. Deputies search his backpack, which he said was filled with clothes.Cruz said he was “taking a break” from school and left when he was in the eleventh grade. He told deputies a friend dropped him off there.Deputies have Cruz sit on the ground, with his skateboard nearby, place him in handcuffs and then put him in the back of a patrol car. He was later booked into the Broward County Jail.A Broward judge set Cruz’s bond for 0,000 for trespassing. Trespassing is a misdemeanor that usually carries only a bond. If released, he’s ordered to wear an ankle monitor, stay away from any school, and the suburban Lantana home where he’s living will be searched for guns and ammunition.The Broward Sheriff’s Office is asking a judge for a “risk protection order” to ban Cruz from purchasing or possessing any guns or ammunition for a year. BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. (KGTV) - A helicopter made a hard landing in the Anza-Borrego desert about three miles east of Borrego Springs in East San Diego County Monday, deputies said.Four people were on board the Robinson R-44 helicopter when it went down about 1:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.Three people were treated at the scene, according to The Borrego Sun. Deputies said they had minor injuries.The helicopter is registered to Big Blue Corp of Las Vegas. 10News is working to confirm that it may have been operated by Big Blue Air, a tour company based in Palm Springs. A company representative had no immediate comment on the landing.Borrego Springs Airport officials said the male pilot was on the way to the Rams Hill Country Club in Borrego Springs.The helicopter landed in rough terrain near Inspiration Wash, officials said. The area is accessible to 4WD vehicles via dirt track. Temperatures are in the high 70s.The FAA and NTSB will investigate the landing. 1022
