(KGTV) - The spookiest time of the year at Disneyland isn’t always Halloween. In 2019, it comes in August, as the Haunted Mansion marks its 50th anniversary. Disney is honoring the milestone with “The Haunted Mansion: Celebrating 50 Years of Retirement Unliving.” The after-hours events will include special entertainment, character encounters, photo opportunities, themed food and drinks, unique merchandise, and what Disney describes as “a few supernatural surprises.” Event highlights include: *A 13th Hour Celebration kick-off along the Rivers of America. The “Swinging Wake” will feature Madame Leota of crystal ball fame conjuring the festivities. *Themed backdrops for photos with unlimited digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass pictures. *Limited-time Snapchat filters and event hashtags. *After-hours access to select attractions New Orleans Square, Critter Country, Frontierland and Adventureland. The events will be held August 7-8 and August 8-9, with line-up starting at 11:30 p.m. and special access to the park from 1 a.m. - 4 a.m. A limited quantity of tickets for both event nights will be available beginning Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10 a.m. Ticket prices were not immediately disclosed. 1214

A 19-year-old man was detained in Germany on Tuesday after police found him carrying a 2-foot long python in his pants.According to the Associated Press, the unidentified man was detained by police in Darmstadt after having a loud drunken argument with another man. When police searched the teenager, they found "a significant bulge" in his pants.The man then told police he had a snake in his pants and pulled it out to show officers. According to the BBC, police believe the baby king python may belong to one of the man's relatives.The teen was taken into a jail cell to sleep if off. A 20-year-old Canadian is facing charges after he was allegedly asleep behind the wheel of a self-driving Tesla going more than 90 mph.The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called on July 9 when witnesses saw a speeding Tesla electric car heading south of Edmonton, and what appeared to be no one behind the wheel.Both front seats were fully reclined and it appeared the driver and passenger were asleep, police told CBC.The car was going roughly 87 mph on a stretch of highway with a maximum speed of about 68 mph.A responding officer turned on their patrol car’s lights, as other cars on the highway pulled over, police say the Tesla automatically began to accelerate to more than 90 mph because the traffic in front of it was clearing."Nobody was looking out the windshield to see where the car was going," RCMP Sgt. Darrin Turnbull told CBC. "I've been in policing for over 23 years and the majority of that in traffic law enforcement, and I'm speechless. I've never, ever seen anything like this before, but of course the technology wasn't there."The driver was initially charged with speeding and had a temporary hold put on his license for sleeping behind the wheel. The RCMP decided recently to charge the driver with dangerous driving and set a December court date.Self-driving features usually require input from the driver every so often to ensure someone is paying attention while the car is in motion. However, CTV reports there are after-market products that can interfere with that system."Although manufacturers of new vehicles have built in safeguards to prevent drivers from taking advantage of the new safety systems in vehicles, those systems are just that — supplemental safety systems," said Superintendent Gary Graham of Alberta RCMP Traffic Services in a statement. (KGTV) - Well before Star Wars fans crowd theaters for Episode IX in December, Disneyland will welcome fans to the park's themed expansion.Disney Parks announced Tuesday Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open to galactic visitors in summer 2019 and at Disney World in late fall 2019.Disney's expansion will host the planet Batuu, its residents of both Resistance and First Order allegiance, droids, aliens, and of course, park guests.RELATED: Disneyland will soon allow guests to order food with their mobile appThe land will also take fans on a journey into immersive experiences, including walking on board the Millennium Falcon and dropping into a battle between the Resistance and First Order.The Anaheim park's hotly anticipated opening follows a reimagining of a portion of California Adventure, called Pixar Pier which opens this summer.For now, Disney hopes to tide over fans with drone footage of the Star Wars area's construction: 964
