(KGTV) -- A Hazmat crew was called to a propane leak at a home in Chula Vista Tuesday night. Crews at the scene tell 10News that a food truck parked in the driveway of the home was leaking propane. Initially the plan was to jack the truck so crews could access, but they were unable to do so. They're now planning to safely light off the propane until it burns off. At this time one home has been evacuated, others may be evacuated soon. *This is a developing story. 10News will continue to update as details become available.  595

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for the suspects accused of stabbing a 15-year-old to death as he tried to defend his friend at a Chula Vista birthday party in late January. According to police, the stabbing took place on January 31 on the 900 block of Maria Way in Chula Vista. Police say an argument broke out between two teenagers. The argument later turned physical and, as the 15-year-old -- identified by friends as Devin Griffiths -- tried to help a friend being attacked by several men, he was stabbed in the upper body, according to police. According to police, he “passed away with his family at his side.”Police say the suspect group is believed to consist of eight to 15 men and women between the ages of 17 and 20. Investigators believe there is a likelihood witnesses used their cell phones to record the incident and are asking anyone with video to come forward. Children should be learning in classrooms.That was the message from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday, less than 24 hours after the Palm Beach County School Board reached a consensus to start the 2020-21 academic year with online-only classes."Educating our kids is absolutely essential," DeSantis said during a news conference at the Jacksonville Port Authority. "I have no doubt we can do this safely."Claiming that students across the state have suffered an "education gap" from online distance learning, he urged school districts to consider opening brick and mortar schools right away for the 2020-21 academic year."I want our kids to be able to minimize this education gap that I think has developed," DeSantis said. "In spite of good efforts with the online, it's just not the same. So I worry about that gap."The governor added he's concerned about the social impact that distance learning is having on children."There's something to be said for being in school, seeing people you know, growing up like a normal kid," DeSantis said.On Wednesday, the Palm Beach County School Board reached a consensus to start the 2020-21 academic year, which is slated to begin on Monday, Aug. 10, with online-only classes due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus pandemic.A final vote will take place on July 15.DeSantis, whose three children are not old enough to attend kindergarten, said he would send them to elementary school if they were of age."I would not hesitate to put them in, in terms of the risk. (KGTV) — Aquatica San Diego and Chula Vista police are warning trespassers after ABC 10News obtained video showing people inside the closed waterpark riding skateboards on some of their attractions.The clip starts with individuals climbing over barbed wire fencing surrounding the theme park. The group is seen casually walking the grounds of the park then skateboarding on water slides, including the six-story funnel ride Tassie's Twister.The 19-second video appeared on the social media app TikTok on May 19 and has been viewed more than 1.1 million times.10News showed the video to Aquatica, who confirmed there have been trespassing incidents recently. The park added that they have notified police and trespassers will face consequences."While Aquatica is temporarily closed because of COVID-19, the park is monitored 24/7. Our security team has caught trespassers in the park and notified the Chula Vista Police Department. Citations have been issued because trespassing is a misdemeanor crime. If property is damaged, it can be a felony," said Kelly Terry, SeaWorld and Aquatica spokeswoman, in a statement.RELATED: San Diego theme parks aim for July 1 reopening if state allowsCVPD Lt. Chris Kelley confirmed the incidents and said that some individuals have also been arrested.
