BOSTON (AP) — A Boston veterinary hospital got quite a surprise recently when a family brought in their bulldog after he stopped eating.The Angell Animal Medical Center found 19 baby pacifiers in the dog's stomach.It started in April when the Wellesley family noticed that their 3-year-old dog, Mortimer, started getting nauseous before meals. His owner, Emily Shanahan, brought Mortimer to the vet, who prescribed medicine to take care of the issue.But it didn't help and Mortimer eventually stopped eating entirely.Shanahan went to Angell, where they took an X-ray and discovered the pacifiers.Vets think Mortimer had been taking the pacifiers from Shanahan's two children over the course of months.The pacifiers were removed using a medical scope that did not require surgery. Mortimer recovered and is back at home. 827

Blowing dust caused by strong winds across the state made for dangerous travel in Central Nebraska on Monday. The Nebraska State Patrol closed part of Interstate 80 near Seward for several hours after dust clouds obscured visibility in the area and caused in a multi-vehicle crash that left several injured, according to an NSP release.Six semi-tractor-trailers and several passenger cars were involved in the pile-up Monday, and I-80 was closed in both directions for nearly four hours while crews worked to assist injured motorists and clear the roadway, the release states.Injured motorists were transported to Seward Memorial Hospital; two were transported via life-flight, the release states. All injured parties are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.It was the second day dust had impacted travel in Central Nebraska. On Sunday, both directions of I-80 are were closed near Aurora because of a fatal multi-vehicle crash attributed to poor visibility due to blowing dust.  1058

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Newly-released body camera footage shows a New York Supreme Court justice admitting to shoving a police officer, repeatedly stating that he has family ties to the Buffalo police force and even invoking a friendship with Mayor Byron W. Brown as he sought lenient treatment for himself and his wife during an incident in June.The footage was released after Scripps station WKBW in Buffalo reported in June that State Supreme Court Justice Mark J. Grisanti was under police investigation over a street brawl between the justice, his wife and their North Buffalo neighbors. Grisanti and his wife were both handcuffed and placed in the back of police cars, but officials announced in July that they would not be facing charges.In the body camera footage, Grisanti repeatedly states that his daughter and son-in-law are police officers, as does his wife, Maria Grisanti.“Ma'am, if you don't stop yelling, this is gonna be a problem for you,” a Buffalo police officer told Grisanti's wife, Maria, as she was yelling at her neighbors across the street.“I don’t care,” Maria Grisanti yelled back.The officer then crossed the street and attempted to put Maria Grisanti in handcuffs. That's when her husband began shouting at the officer. Video shows Grisanti approach the office him from behind and shove him.“You better get off my f---ing wife,” Mark Grisanti yelled after being told to "keep his hands off cops." “My daughter and my son are both Buffalo police officers...I’ll call them right now.”Buffalo Police spokesman Capt. Zaccagnino, who is representing Grisanti. “Certainly he wishes the incident never occurred.”Zaccagnino said Grisanti was trying to defend his wife, and he feels his actions are being taken out of context.“And he got angry, and he raised his voice, he put his hand up, and he did make contact with the officer,” Zaccagnino said. “He feels bad about it, OK? He feels bad about the whole incident.”This is not the first time an altercation involving Grisanti and his wife has spilled out into public view.Grisanti was injured in a 2012 scuffle at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls in which he said he and his wife were attacked and beaten during a confrontation with members of the Seneca Nation of Indians. He was a state senator at the time.Grisanti, a Republican, lost his senate seat in 2014 but was appointed to a Court of Claims judgeship by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2015.
