Kaitlyn "Rosie" Pilsbury was riding her motorcycle when she was hit head-on by the driver of an SUV. The driver ditched the vehicle and took off. It happened in Vista just days before Christmas. Pilsbury suffered massive injuries and was in a coma for 12 days. "When I heard this happened my first call was to the network, my second call was to the mayor, and my third was to all these people, this is a 'Restaurant: Impossible' family in a community that cares about that young girl," said celebrity chef Robert Irvine of the Food Network. (KGTV) - A driver under the influence of a drug struck and injured a Caltrans worker on Interstate 15 in Escondido Thursday, the California Highway Patrol said.A Nissan Sentra driven by a 26-year-old man was headed south on the freeway south of 9th Ave. about 10 a.m. and struck the Caltrans-owned Dodge Ram truck which was stopped in the center divider near the HOV lane. Officers said the Nissan’s driver allowed his car to drift into the center divider.The Caltrans worker had moderate injuries. The Nissan’s driver complained of pain but refused treatment at the scene. One of his male passengers suffered major injuries; other had moderate injuries.CHP officers evaluated the Nissan driver and arrested him at the scene on suspicion of DUI. 776

When she began the chase, she had no idea he was armed with a knife. Just before midnight Tuesday, Maria Medvedev was reading a book in her home in the Village Park neighborhood. She was startled by the sound of the side gate opening. Then, she saw and heard a shadowy figure race out of her yard.Medvedev took off after him and found him hiding behind a truck in the street. She says he tried to convince her he was a neighbor, then took out of a knife and approached her."He flashed it and that's when I started screaming, 'Someone call the police. Someone call 9-1-1!'" she said.  706

ENSENADA, Mexico (KGTV) - The family of a man injured in an ATV accident in Mexico is seeking donations to help get him to a hospital in San Diego.Chad Carrico, who works for a pest control company in Seattle, was on a cruise from Seattle to Mexico when he got off for a day in Ensenada in Baja California on October 10. He and a few friends rented ATV’s but his mother, Theresa Carrico, said he hit something and lost control.“He flew over the handles and the ATV rolled on top of him and crushed him,” said Carrico.His liver was severely damaged. He also suffered a punctured lung and had internal bleeding. He underwent surgery at Velmar Hospital and was placed on life support. He also has to undergo daily kidney dialysis.His mother said, he does not have health insurance in the United States but his employer paid the first ,000 payment.On Monday, she said the hospital told them they owe another ,000.Making matters more pressing, on Monday night they learned he was going into septic shock and may also have contracted a dangerous fungus on his nose that could spread to his brain.
