COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football players and their parents were given a pledge to sign, asking them to acknowledge the risk of COVID-19 and take responsibility for their own health and safety, according to a document obtained by ESPN and The Columbus Dispatch.The electronic pledge, called the “Buckeye Pledge,” states that players will agree to COVID-19 testing and potential self-quarantine if they test positive. CINCINNATI (AP) — The Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Morgan has died at the age of 77.A family spokesman says he died at his home Sunday in Danville, California.Morgan was suffering from a nerve condition, a form of polyneuropathy. He became the sparkplug of the Big Red Machine and the prototype for baseball’s artificial turf era.Morgan was a two-time NL Most Valuable Player, a 10-time All-Star, and won five Gold Gloves. He could hit a home run, steal a base, and disrupt any game with his daring.Most of all, the 5-foot-7 dynamo known for flapping his left elbow drove a Cincinnati team featuring the likes of Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, and Tony Perez to World Series titles in 1975 and '76.According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Morgan is the sixth Hall of Famer to die this year and the fifth in just five weeks.The other Hall of Famers that passed away were Al Kaline, Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, and Whitey Ford. 939

CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - A major makeover is underway at the Hotel del Coronado, and now the project is moving into phase two, which includes a new entrance. On Wednesday, hotel guests and the public will be able to use the hotel's new underground parking structure, which features 729 spots. For the next two years, guests will enter the hotel from the north side, as the main entrance is redesigned. The temporary entrance can be accessed from R.H. Dana Pl. The project will cost 0 million, a figure that's double the original estimate."To ensure that the Hotel Del is staying relevant with the times, but also that it's here for another 130 years," said Nick OrRico, the resort manager. OrRico says they've been working diligently to enhance the guest experience while construction is underway. After the popular restaurant Sun Deck closed for construction, the hotel created an alternative eatery on the beach with a food truck. "We are still looking for ways to build unique experiences for guests, so they still want to come over here and experience our beautiful beach," said OrRico. Holiday traditions will continue despite renovations, including Skating by the Sea, which kicks off this Friday.For Thanksgiving, the Hotel Del is expecting close to 3,000 guests for dinner in the Crown Room and Ball Room, plus more in the restaurants.On Christmas Eve, they'll serve 500 guests in the Crown Room. And on Christmas Day, they're expecting 2,000 in the Crown Room and Ball Room.The renovation project is expected to be completed in December 2021. 1563

(KGTV) - For the first time, a local coaching legend is speaking out, 5 months after he was banned from the campus of Coronado High.Retired water polo coach Randy Burgess is accused in a complaint of molesting a former middle school student.A mural of Burgess remains over the pool his water polo teams has used during his 3 decades of coaching, which includes nearly 20 section championships for high school boys' and girls' teams. Three of his players have competed in the Olympics.It's a legacy now in danger."My feeling is beyond frustration. A lot of hurtful things have happened," said Burgess.In May, the former middle school student - now 18 - filed a complaint with Coronado unified.In it, the teen claims during the 7th grade while playing for a club polo team that shared the pool with Burgess' teams, Burgess hugged, kissed, and eventually raped the child, in places like bathrooms and Burgess' car.The school district removed Burgess from the classroom in April, before denying the claim in May.Burgess says his attorney learned the District Attorney's office has declined to prosecute, but 10News is still working to confirm that."My immediate response was this was a case of mistaken identity.  My coaching and teaching career never paralleled with this this individual," said Burgess, who denies ever interacting with the student.Burgess tell us he doesn't know why someone would make up such a claim. He's now suing for reinstatement to teach physical education at Coronado High. In 2015, he retired from coaching, but was still mentoring coaches."I've told my children and my athletes: It's not always what happens to you, but how you handle it. I'm trying to live through those words now," said Burgess.It's not the first time Burgess has been named in a complaint.In 1995, a city supervisor sued him and the city of Coronado, claiming Burgess berated his players, made sexually inappropriate statements in front of students and sometimes allowed male swimmers to swim naked.Burgess says that case was settled with a confidentiality clause."I can only repeat to myself that the people who know me, know me, and the others will come up with their own conclusions," said Burgess.In a statement, Coronado Unified declined to discuss personnel matters, but did say "...the District takes such claims very seriously.  When the allegations became known, the District followed policy and protocol by taking immediate action to protect the safety and security of District students and staff ..."10News reached out to the lawyers representing the former student but have yet to hear back. 2638

Coca-Cola said Friday that it would offer buyouts to 4,000 employees as part of corporate restructuring and said that layoffs could be coming in the future.According to a press release, the buyouts will be offered to employees in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico with a hire date "on or before" Sept. 1, 2017. The company said the "voluntary program" would reduce the number of layoffs.According to Coca-Cola's statement, the company's current operating model consists of "17 business units" that will be consolidated into "nine operating units."Following the announcement, Coca-Cola's stock price rose nearly a point in early trading, an increase of just under 2%.According to WSB-TV, Coca-Cola has more than 86,000 employees nationwide. The Associated Press reports that company revenue fell 28% in the second quarter due to the effects from the pandemic, but executives are confident in recovery. 907
