Its goal is to rescue pups and turn them into service dogs for veterans who need them now even more than ever during a pandemic.Veteran Suhir Shrestha was born in Nepal and moved to the U.S. He was so thankful for his life here that he decided to enlist in the military as a way to give back, at 39 years old."I deployed to Afghanistan in 2013 and there, obviously, it was a war zone," he said.Shrestha said when he returned, he suffered from PTSD, depression and anxiety."I had a lot of suicidal thoughts and a lot of negative thoughts, nightmares, flashbacks, what have you," he said. "It was very difficult to lead a life."It's a life that has recently take on new meaning with Indie by his side."It has been a tremendous life-changer for me," he said. "Before, I used to be not able to go outside, be nervous of a crowd and just have negative thoughts in me."Indie was adopted from the shelter-to-service dog program through Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch."Gives me extra confidence to go outside because I have him," Shrestha said."These dogs are coming from high-kill shelters in many cases," said Pat Deshong, the president of Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch. "We don't necessarily take them to be service dogs, but we take them because they are high energy."The group is building a new training center in Palm City and is weeks away from completion. It's all in an effort to bring veterans from across the country to Florida to adopt."These veterans are so deserving of these dogs," Deshong said. "We don't automatically pick which dog is right for the veteran. The status of the daycare facility is something that we will be looking at during the investigation,” read a statement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.Madlynn Ruble with the Colorado Department of Human Services said the state was aware of an unlicensed and illegal childcare service being operated out of the home after a complaint was filed.The department served a cease and desist order to Amanda Anderson, who is alleged to have been running the daycare service. It’s unclear if any charges were filed.In the complaint, police noted that there were 16 children in the home at the time of incident -- most of the children were toddlers.The coroner’s office has legally identified the infant and an autopsy has been completed. PINELLAS CO., FLA. — A Pinellas County couple is praising a Good Samaritan who returned 0,000 in jewelry after finding their luggage in the road."He's our Christmas Angel," Dr. Joe Fitzgerald said. "He not only found it. He also called 911 and made sure we got our jewelry back."Joe and his wife Elif Fitzgerald attended an annual Denim and Diamonds charity event for Hands Across the Bay Saturday night. That's why Elif Fitzgerald had expensive pieces of jewelry with her.The Fitzgeralds were one of the sponsors for the event, and they had a lot to pack up at the end of the night. Joe Fitzgerald says he put most of the luggage in the back of his trunk, including his wife's luggage, with the jewelry in it."On my way home the back hatch opened and the bag fell out near West Bay Dr. and Indian Rocks Rd." he said.The Fitzgeralds had no idea the bag was gone, "until I looked at my phone."Elif Fitzgerald said she had dozens of missed calls and text messages telling her someone found their bag and the jewelry in it."I was completely shocked that they returned it," she said. "I have valuable jewelry.
