SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man died in Fallbrook late Friday night.Deputies responded to the 440 block of Ammunition Road around 10:40 p.m. to assist the North County Fire Department with an injured man.When deputies arrived, they found a man identified as Nicolas Ramirez suffering from an unknown traumatic injury.Ramirez was then taken to the hospital where he later died. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thousands of dogs and their owners were out for the annual Humane Society Walk for Animals at Liberty Station Saturday morning. The event raises money for all animals at the humane society, including pets that have been abused, injured or orphaned.  287

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thirty roosters abandoned last month are in need of a new home.The roosters were left at an Escondido feed store on Dec. 28, 2019, with a note from the owner explaining they could no longer take care of them, the San Diego Humane Society says.SDHS says the roosters all appear to be healthy and social with each other and humans.Anyone interested in adopting the roosters can do so through SDHS' Escondido campus. Officials advise potential new owners to check with their city to make sure they are allowed to have a rooster, as some city ordinances prohibit the animals.Anyone who is unable to care for their pets are also advised to take them to a SDHS campus rather than abandoning them. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The woman killed after a loose dog on State Route 94 caused a chain-reaction crash has been identified.Grace Villar, 53, died Saturday after the Toyota Camry she was in was hit from behind by a Dodge pickup truck, according to a report by San Diego's Medical Examiner. Traffic in front of the Camry was stopped due to a loose dog in the highway.Villar was one of three people in the vehicle taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital following the crash.According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford F-150 owned by the San Diego Humane Society was parked in the median of the highway to wrangle a loose dog, when the dog ran into traffic.Cars were forced to stop and some swerved in the process, including the car Villar was traveling in.
