MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — One of four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd is asking to have his case dismissed.An attorney for Thomas Lane said in court papers that the case against his client should be dismissed for lack of probable cause.As part of his court filing, attorney Earl Gray filed transcripts from body camera footage recorded by Lane's camera and the camera of his partner.The transcripts, obtained by the Star Tribune and New York Times, show that Floyd begged officers not to shoot him during the initial encounter and later pleaded for them not to place him in the back of the squad car because he was claustrophobic and had just had COVID-19.At one point, Floyd said “I can’t believe this. I can’t believe this. Mom, I love you. Tell my kids I love them. I’m dead,” according to the transcripts.The transcripts say former officer Derek Chauvin then told Floyd he was under arrest and that he was “doing a lot of talking, man.”That’s when Gray says Lane asked twice if the officers should turn Floyd on his side, but Chauvin said no and used his knee to pin Floyd to the ground.Chauvin then knelt on Floyd's neck for nearly eight minutes, which was caught on video and has now been seen by people across the world. Floyd lost consciousness and was later pronounced dead.Gray also filed a transcript of Lane's interview with state investigators.Lane is charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and manslaughter, as are former officers J. MOUNTAIN VIEW (CNS) - A 24-year-old man is today recovering after being shot in Mountain View.The victim was at a party in the 200 block of Southlook Avenue when a car, driven by a female suspect with a male suspect in the passenger seat, pulled up out front just before 9:40 p.m. Saturday.``The male suspect fired one round at the victim and struck him in the lower abdomen,'' said officer Robert Heims of the San Diego PoliceDepartment. ``The victim's mother drove the victim away from the scene and then called the police.''He was taken to a local hospital with non-critical injuries. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A National City road was drenched Sunday morning after police say a woman slammed into a fire hydrant, sending water spewing into the air. The crash happened on the 200 block of Palm Avenue around 3 a.m. According to police, the woman lost control of her car and crashed into the hydrant. NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Sometimes people suffering with opioid addiction turn to others for help. But sadly professionals listening may need help of their own. After a local addiction treatment consultant died from an overdose, people in his community are asking others who are battling the disease to come forward.Jeremiah Jackson died on Nov. 10. He worked as a treatment consultant at American Addiction Centers in Brentwood helping others with their addictions. People who knew him said he was loved, and called his death a shock. Chris Boutte said Jackson was dedicated to his work."I know that was helping him so much, when we get to help others that helps us so much," Boutte said.  The two first met when Boutte became an Alumni Coordinator and consultant. "We just met and he helped me out with a lot of early struggles. Just dealing with clients who had relapsed and calling me and needing help and people passing away," he said.Boutte spoke to Jackson last month and was surprised to hear of his passing."Jeremiah was just a great example like he is somebody I needed in my life and he was also laughing and joking around and he would freestyle rap and like sing and break dance. He could just...everybody loved the dude," he said.Jackson had been clean for more than four years and shared his heroin addiction story with WTVF TV station in Nashville in December 2017. While working at AAC, Jackson attended a separate recovery program. He was clean for more than four years but last weekend he died from an overdose.Cindy Spelta has worked at Cumberland Heights helping others with their drug and alcohol addictions for more than 15 years. She said people in her field may sometimes need even more help than those they are treating.She said she has been sober from cocaine usage and alcohol for 17 years and also participates in a recovery program. Spelta said Jackson's passing is devastating and is possibly an example of what professionals call "compassion fatigue." "You're dealing with people whose lives have been destroyed and whose families' lives have been destroyed and all that is coming at you every day," she said. She also said each day the tolerance level for people in recovery drops while the chances of a fatal relapse go up. NASA has lost priceless relics of space history, largely because of poor record keeping and follow-through, the agency's watchdog concluded.The inspector general recently found "NASA does not have adequate processes in place to identify or manage its heritage assets."That has led NASA to lose track of items that flew in space, such as "an Apollo 11 lunar collection bag that contained lunar dust particles," and other historically significant items, like a prototype lunar rover that was sold to a scrap yard.NASA told the inspector general's office in a memo that it would develop better processes for dealing with historical items by the spring of May 2020.
