Several months into the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are still working and learning from home.For some, it comes easy, but distractions can get in the way for both adults and kids.This is where smart glasses, called Narbis, could help train your brain to stay on task."You wear these glasses while you’re reading, studying, doing homework, working on the computer, any stationary activity, and the glasses will instantly change tint as soon as you lose focus and become distracted," said Devon Greco, the CEO & Founder of Narbis.The glasses become clear again once they determine you are focused.They use three sensors and an armband to track your attention by measuring your brain waves.The glasses are typically worn for about 30 minutes at a time a few times a week.Narbis' founder said these glasses have proven in clinical trials to help kids with ADHD improve their focus."We had a number of kids who were diagnosed [with ADHD] and on medication, and they wore our glasses for a few times a week while they did their homework," Greco said. "In as short as 20 training sessions, many of them were taken off of medication."He also says this can help more than just kids who are diagnosed with ADHD."When we look at what’s going on today, I think it’s fair to say we are somewhat experiencing an attention epidemic," said Greco.At the end of each session, the Narbis Tablet gives feedback on how well the user is doing and what progress they are making with improving their ability to pay attention.The tablet has three types of sessions on it called Focus, Performance, and Calm Focus.There are different difficulty levels too, and the user can set the time limit for how long they would like to use them the smart glasses for.The Narbis smart glasses can be pre-ordered on their website right now and they are expected to start shipping this month.This story originally reported by Jordan Hogan on Fox13now.com. 1931

Starbucks announced Friday that it would be providing its baristas with Black Lives Matter T-shirts."Black Lives Matter. We continue to listen to our partners and communities and their desire to stand for justice together," the coffee chain tweeted Friday. "The Starbucks Black Partner Network co-designed t-shirts with this graphic that will soon be sent to 250,000+ store partners."Starbucks' decision to provide employees with Black Lives Matter shirts comes days after BuzzFeed reported that employees were told they were prohibited from wearing apparel with the slogan at work.According to BuzzFeed, a corporate memo was sent out in response to some managers' inquiries about allowing employees to wear BLM apparel that stated that the movement "could be misunderstood and potentially incite violence."Starbucks reportedly classified Black Lives Matter apparel in the same category as "religious or political personal accessories." However, Starbucks has provided employees with branded LGBTQ-themed shirts for Pride month in the past and encouraged employees to wear them at work.The ban on Black Lives Matter apparel came as Starbucks pushed messages supportive of the movement on social media. 1209

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- A new outdoor art museum showcasing art from around the world is opening in Solana Beach. Called the Art Alley on Cedros, the museum is free to the public. The grand opening of the new alley will be held during the last Cedros Stroll of the summer.The first exhibit is surf-themed and will feature 12 surfboards designed by various international artists displayed along the alley. The entire museum was designed to withstand the elements and, after its opening, will never close. The grand opening of the alley will be held on September 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 320 South Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach. Music will continue until 10 p.m. 674

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson called the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia store last week "reprehensible" and promised to take action so that it doesn't happen again.A store manager called the police because the two men were sitting in the store without placing an order. They were arrested for trespassing. The customers said they were waiting for another man to arrive. That person arrived at the store as they were being arrested.A Starbucks spokesperson says the manager in the store who called police is no longer working in that store, although she would not comment if she is working at another location.Johnson said there would be more training for staff on the issue of "unconscious bias.""I've been very focused on understanding what guidelines and what training ever let this happen," he said. "What happened was wrong and we will fix it."Johnson had already posted apologies on the company's website. He said the company wanted to "express our deepest apologies to the two men who were arrested with a goal of doing whatever we can to make things right." He said he hoped to meet with the two men in person to make a face-to-face apology. He was in Philadelphia on Monday when he conducted the interview on Good Morning America."Starbucks stands firmly against discrimination or racial profiling," he said on the blog post.Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney issued his own statement calling the incident "appears to exemplify what racial discrimination looks like in 2018." Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross defended his officers' actions in a statement on Facebook, saying that the officers were called to respond to a trespassing complaint and that they behaved properly and followed procedure.Starbucks has a history of advocating for racial equality.
