SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A resident inside an Encanto home opened fire on an intruder Wednesday, San Diego Police said.The victim first vandalized a car in the 6800 block of Charlene Ave. in the Broadway Heights section of Encanto, according to police.Police believe the victim then used a rock to break into a home where people were inside. One person was armed and fired a shot at the intruder.The victim was taken to the hospital. He may be related to the people in the home, and may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.Officers did not release the victim’s identity or condition. 612

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was arrested Thursday after attacking police with railroad spikes and rocks in a Barrio Logan train yard, police said.San Diego Police were called to the BNSF Railway Yard along Harbor Drive around 10 a.m. to reports of a trespasser. Officers arrived to find a man who had armed himself with a stick and railroad spikes, police said.The suspect reportedly threw the spike at officers and fled under a rail car, refusing to come out. The man also threatened to kill a police K-9 on scene, SDPD added.Police created "decision making space" and tried to talk the suspect into surrendering. After those efforts failed, officers used shotgun beanbags, pepper balls, and eventually a K-9 officer to get the man to surrender. He was pulled from under the railcar and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries, including dog bites, police confirmed.No officers were injured during the event. 927

She realized there was a need.“Women were out in the marketplace, but they weren't managing the money, and sadly, often nobody was.”Wall and financial planner Candace Bahr launched the Women’s Institute for Financial Education (WIFE), a nonprofit to give women the tools to start making a difference.“We didn't have anything to sell anybody. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A patient who tested positive for novel coronavirus in San Diego County has fully recovered, UC San Diego said Wednesday. The hospital says it was informed of the recovery by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The individual is no longer infectious and was discharged Wednesday. The person is also no longer under federal quarantine or isolation orders. The news comes as the San Diego Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to extend a local public health emergency in response to the virus. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A repeat DUI offender who pleaded guilty to hitting and killing a tow-truck operator on SR-52 in 2017 has been sentenced.Michael Gilbert Gray, 50, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in August in the death of 55-year-old Fred Griffith.Gray was sentenced Friday to 25 years to life in prison.On Feb. 23, 2017, Griffith, a single father of three, was aiding a stranded trash truck on the freeway near Tierrasanta when he was struck and killed by Gray's Ford Expedition.RELATED 514
