(KGTV) - A San Diego father who lost his daughter after she was hit by shrapnel from an exploding airbag spoke to Team 10 about the latest death connected to these faulty devices.The latest death occurred in June, according to a statement released by Honda, which made the car involved in the crash. The driver, Armando Vargas Ortega, was hit by shrapnel from the airbag when a 2002 Honda Civic crashed at an intersection, a Honda spokesman said. The death occurred a few days later.Alexander Brangman understands their pain. On Sept. 7, 2014, his daughter Jewel Brangman rear-ended a van in her rental car on a freeway in Los Angeles. Four vehicles were involved. Everyone walked away from the crash, except her.Alexander Brangman said shrapnel pierced her neck. (KGTV) — A Los Angeles-area police pursuit ended late Tuesday with a suspect breakdancing as officers held him a gunpoint before being arrested.The chase took California Highway Patrol officers through the San Fernando Valley after the suspect failed to yield to commands to stop, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.Officers pursued the suspect over the 101 Freeway, north on the 405 Freeway, and then east onto the 118 Freeway.As the driver slowed in the Pacoima area, officers were able to enact a PIT maneuver and spin the suspect's vehicle out.The driver exited the vehicle and began walking backward toward CHP officers. But before turning himself over, he stopped and began breakdancing in the street, as officers kept their firearms trained on the man.After a short dance, the man surrendered to police without incident. 832

(CNN) -- Nike's gamble to partner with athlete-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick paid off Sunday as the company won an Emmy for outstanding commercial at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.The commercial, titled "Dream Crazy," features Kaepernick alongside other sports legends including Serena Williams and LeBron James, who have reached beyond their personal achievements to support and advance political and social causes.The ad was released in September 2018 days before the start of the NFL season. Kaepernick was one of the faces of Nike's 30th anniversary commemoration of its iconic "Just Do It" campaign.Despite some intense response to the ad -- like people burning their Nike shoes and a Missouri college dropping the brand -- the company's stock hit an all-time high. (KGTV) - All evacuations and road closures have been lifted after a fire in Otay Mesa scorched hundreds of acres and tore through a pallet yard Thursday. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said in a tweet Thursday evening that crews would mop up the burn area overnight while checking for hot spots. No structures were lost in the blaze and no one injured. The fire, named the Caliente Fire, broke out about noon at Otay Mesa Road and Caliente Avenue. The San Diego Fire Department initially reported that crews stopped forward progress of the fire at around 3 p.m., but the blaze reignited moments later, eventually spreading to a pallet yard. According to fire crews, the pallet yard housed 80,000 pallets. Thick, black smoke could be seen flooding into the air from Moreno Pallets in Otay Mesa. Four helicopters, two fixed-wing aircraft, four strike teams and the original San Diego Fire first alarm team battled the blaze, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Southwestern College Higher Education Center in Otay Mesa was also evacuated due to the blaze. According to a spokesperson with the college, San Diego Police entered the college and told everyone to evacuate immediately. All night classes at Southwestern were canceled. San Ysidro High School was designated as the evacuation center while the American Red Cross provided supplies.
