The Simpsons cover the cost to provide for the hungry and homeless. “There’s a lot of people out there that don’t have and I don’t have either,” Simpson said. “But when God blesses me with a little extra, I figure out a way of giving it back.” Those receiving these free meals say a little bit of giving can go a long way. “It makes a difference in my life,” said one recipient. “It kind of puts me in a better position.” “It makes me feel there’s some beautiful, good people because they are trying to help the people that are very poor,” said another recipient. According to experts, tens of millions of Americans struggle with hunger and more than a quarter of those people are children. “They do it from the bottom of their heart,” said the Simpson’s oldest child. “We don’t help the homeless, we help the hungry.” The Simpson’s children say they are learning life lessons from their parents’ kindness. Shooters in three different mass killings this year have posted manifestos on a little-known website where extremists gather to cheer on and recruit others. The 8Chan website has been down and then back online repeatedly since the mass killings in El Paso Saturday. A growing number of people studying mass shootings say homegrown extremists are organizing and recruiting like the way well-known terror groups such as ISIS or Al Qaeda have done, and they are using the 8Chan website to do it. Robert Evans doesn’t give off the look of someone who has studied extremists academically. The day he met us, he was dressed like a world traveler, wearing a TV, vest, jeans and boots. “I study how terrorist groups use the Internet to radicalize and recruit," Evans told investigative reporter Jace Larson during an interview Monday in Mexico City. Ten days ago, Evans was in Syria. He traveled to study extremist groups in Mosel, Iraq in 2016 and 2017. Since a shooter went on a rampage in March, killing 51 people in Christchurch, New Zealand, Evans has devoted much of his time to studying how three mass-shootings were connected to the 8Chan website. “8Chan went from a bunch of disaffected, misogynist videogame fans to outright neo-Nazis,” Evans said. The site started after users were booted from a similar, but slightly more regulated website called 4Chan, an image-based online bulletin board where users post and discuss images. 8Chan was developed as a place where any speech is allowed. Evans showed how users freely post violence, anti-Semitic themes and race-related extreme views. Pro-white nationalism images are easily found. Robert was among the first to find a connection between 8Chan and three 2019 mass killings: the Christchurch massacre in March, the Poway synagogue shooting outside San Diego in April that injured three and killed one, and the shooting in El Paso that killed 22 Saturday. The killers appeared to have left manifestos in each case on the 8Chan website before the killings. Killing on 8Chan is sometimes likened to a video game. The phrase “beating his high score” is used to refer to anyone who can kill more than a previous killer. As evidence of this phenomenon, Evans points out that the Christchurch killer livestreamed his bloodbath with a first-person point of view from a helmet cam. “There's a reason that the Christchurch shooter livestreamed his massacre for the people at 8Chan, and there's a reason that he put together a music list that was full of songs that were like related to in jokes within that community,” Evan said. On the site, readers also talk about something called “replacement theory,” which is also referred to as “white replacement theory.” Some express a concern that the white race could be eliminated as more people immigrate from Mexico, other central American counties and elsewhere. “It's this idea that white people are going extinct because of immigration,” Evans said. A 19-year-old pregnant woman who vanished last month was found dead in a Chicago home, authorities said. Police said they believe she was killed and her unborn baby was forcibly removed.Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was nine-months pregnant when she disappeared on April 23. But the launch’s success crested a renewed sense of hope for the future of the industry.“It’s one of those things where any success in the commercial space realm is beneficial to all of the players in that realm,” Dave Ruppel explained. Ruppel is the Director at the Colorado Air and Space Port, one of the 12 licensed spaceports in the U.S. approved for launching spacecraft.He said successful events like this help build interest and trust with the public. “Things like the SpaceX launch kind of bring the average person into that discussion, and help them realize how much is happening out there,” Ruppel said. “Now we know it’s going to be safe. We know it can be successful.”And it could create more opportunities for the general public to experience space. “Their goal is to make that a possibility more for the average person, not the superhuman NASA astronaut,” Ruppel said. Space travel has come a long way, from historical milestones to a possible vacation destination. “When you get into the 1960s and people actually start going into space, there are thoughts about how we might create some kind of place where people could go and visit,” said Jennifer Levasseur, Museum Curator at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. “Fantasies about space hotels or the future of space travel.”She said while more commercial trips are possible in the future, there are some factors to consider. But that probably won’t happen anytime soon. “This was a big milestone. It’s been a long time coming. The SpaceX Dragon was conceived originally as a vehicle fair paying individuals would eventually be able to fly on,” Shelley explained. A driver who ignored barricades on a Pawnee County Road was hospitalized after his vehicle was swallowed by a sinkhole, authorities say.Four county deputy units and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the wreck on County Road 5715 just outside the Arkansas River community of Blackburn before 11 p.m. on Wednesday. According to investigators, the man drove around multiple ODOT barricades. A fisherman reportedly witnessed it. The road has broken apart in pieces in recent days, with entire portions of it missing due to massive flooding.The vehicle had to be left in the sinkhole overnight because crews were unable to recover it. They are expected to remove it today.Mercy EMS transported the man, who has not yet been identified, to a Tulsa hospital so he could be treated for head trauma, officials say. According to locals, he had a dog with him, which was not injured.We’re told ODOT immediately was dispatched to place added barricades around the area, which deputies say clearly was blocked when the driver bypassed them. Driving or walking around barricades not only is dangerous and could place you in a life-threatening situation, but it is illegal.
