QINGDAO, Shandong, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The fourth Sino-U.S. Energy Policy Dialogue opened Sunday in the coastal city of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province.     China and the U.S. have huge potentials to cooperate in developing wind, solar and nuclear power. Both countries shall hold responsibilities to develop more technologies and equipment to tackle the challenges of climate changes, said David Sandalow, assistant secretary for Policy and International Affairs at the Energy Department.     Zhang Yuqing, an official with China's National Energy Administration, said China is willing to learn advanced technologies of exploring gas. The consumption of gas has been growing by 20 percent every year since 2006.     The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the dialogue in 2004. The first forum was held in 2005 in the U.S.

BUDAPEST, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met here Friday with Hungarian President Solyom Laszlo, and put forward a four-point proposal to help further bilateral relations.     The Chinese vice-president proposed to maintain high-level contacts aimed at cementing friendship, to enhance economic cooperation and investment aimed at balancing trade, to improve personnel exchanges aimed at furthering understanding, and to join hands in promoting a healthy development of China-European Union relations. BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese economy is experiencing a "V" shape recovery and the growth rate may reach 8 percent both this year and next year, said Chinese economist Fan Gang said here Saturday.     Fan, a monetary policy adviser to China's central bank, said at the 2009 annual conference of CEO in Beijing, that the economy will see a sustainable recovery and will be back to normal in 2011,according to a report of the China News Service.     He predicted that the real estate investment will increase by around 30 percent in 2010, which will add one percentage point to economic growth.     Corporate investment is expected to grow prominently next year and as the global trade is warming up, Chinese export, which still enjoys the cost advantage, will recover.       "After the economy is back to normal in 2010, the government will adjust the macro-economic policy. But before that happens, the current stimulus policy should stay to sustain the recovery," he said.     Fan said people should adjust their expectation of economic growth and not regard recovery simply as a double-digit growth. A growth grate of 8 percent to 9 percent is sustainable growth.

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said here Friday that he is proud of Pakistan's brotherly relationship with China and wishes the Chinese around the world well.     Zardari was the chief guest at the National Day reception hosted by Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui at the Chinese embassy.     Replying a question by Xinhua on his arrival, Zardari said, "For the Chinese around the world, I wish them well. I wish them their independence and I applaud the success."     He also said, "I'm proud of the friendship which we have with China. And I'm proud of our brotherly relationship. And I'm with them in this moment of happiness. The people of Pakistan share the moments of happiness with the people of China."     Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, government officials and senior diplomats from other embassies based in Islamabad were present at the reception.     The guests watched dances, songs and acrobatics performed by Chinese troops. At the end of the performance, chief guests and the Chinese ambassador went on the stage to greet the performers and had a group photo with them. 

URUMQI, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of foreign diplomats in China on Thursday visited Shihezi city in northwest China' s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, voicing their appreciation to the development model of the city.     Shihezi city, some 150 km northwest of Urumqi, is a young city which was established in the 1950s in the gobi of Xinjiang. With the development of some 60 years, the city has become one of the most developed cities in the autonomous region.     In the early phase of the city' s development, Shihezi focused on reclaiming land in the desert for agriculture. Meanwhile, the city began to establish its industry system and high-tech in recent years in order to reach a comprehensive development. Al-Ghais said it' s a good method to develop this kind of technology in the area and set a good example for other countries and regions in water-shortage areas to develop agriculture and recycle economy.     Togolese ambassador to China Nolama Ta Ama, also head of the diplomatic delegation, voiced his appreciation to the achievements of the reclamation projects in Shihezi.     "We appreciate your efforts of reclamation to build such a beautiful and livable city in the desert," said Ama, adding that the people here live harmoniously with each other and with the nature.     The foreign diplomats, who will leave for Beijing on Friday, also visited a museum on Xinjiang' s reclamation and Shihezi University in the city.
