Chris Nuss spends nearly every free minute of his time at work rebuilding his home. His sons watch and learn while getting an unexpected hands-on lesson on how to overcome adversity. In March, a flood destroyed their home in Pacific Junction, a tiny town in western Iowa. The water nearly reached their second-floor windows.“There was 12 to 14 feet of water at our house,” Chris Nuss’ wife Catie said. She says it took a month before the family could get to their home.“We paddled in a canoe and a jon boat,” Catie says. “I was not prepared to go inside. I was in shock.”While the family fixes their home, they’ve been living inside this camper parked in the driveway — six people and three pets crammed inside for the past five months.“It’s like living in a box, literally,” she says.To get them back in their home, Catie says they’ve received about ,000 in disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the maximum amount FEMA gives out for repairs. That’s far short of the 0,000 Catie estimates it will take to finish the job.Now the family’s finances are also underwater after racking up credit card debt and wiping out a retirement account.“I had about ,000 in there, not a whole lot, but that’s gone,” Catie says. “We had maybe ,000-7,000 in our savings before FEMA, that’s gone.”But the family is desperate to get back into their home they worked so hard to get and are fighting so hard to keep.“When we bought this house, it was a forever home and we’ve learned again, it’s our forever home,” she says. “We’re taking advantage of the situation trying to look at the positive.”Each small milestone gives them just enough energy to keep going.“When I got power turned on, I think maybe for 10 minutes, I flipped one light switched off and on just like a little kid, being amazed that it worked,” Chris says.If things stay on track, the family hopes to be back in their home for the holidays.“We’ve had a few family members ask if we’re hosting Thanksgiving,” Catie says. “I keep saying ‘yes,’ so we will be in by Thanksgiving.” 2064

DENVER, Colo. – Aches, pains and stress are just a way of life as we get older, but there’s a new trend that claims to reduce all of those issues. It’s called light therapy.Fitness instructor Christa Dellebovi is among those using the therapy. “I teach seven to eight classes a week here at Rise Nation and I do my own workouts as well I lift weights 3 or 4 times a week,” said Dellebovi. "I feel it a lot of times at night. I lay down after the day and everything just tightens up, tenses up and after sitting at a desk for a while, I start to feel it in my hips and my joints just get tight."It wasn't until Dellebovi was introduced to light therapy that she started noticing a difference. It can be in the form of a face mask, a sauna or just a room filled with a certain colored light that's said to penetrate deep into the skin."Recently it has become popular with celebrities and the public in general in regard to inferred saunas, the idea being that it can help with inflammation,” said said Dr. Zeina Dajani. "Although, some studies have found the opposite."Dr. Dajani says light therapy comes with claims of reducing stress and pain while improving sleep. It’s become so popular, the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas opened the Blu Room using UV-B light, but Dr. Dajani says there are people who shouldn't use light therapy – those with autoimmune disorders."So, in that case, red and blue light may be harmful, but for the general public, they are safe."This new trend isn't cheap. A single session can cost around .So, whether you try it out, Dellebovi says it’s about more than just sitting under a light."The amount of noise we experience and constantly all day every day, I think anyone can benefit to take 10 minutes and just disconnect and spend a little time for yourself," said Dellebovi. 1816

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke repeated his call for Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump in a CNN town hall Tuesday night in Iowa. The former congressman from Texas said impeachment is "not something that I take lightly.""It is an incredibly serious, sober decision to make as a country," he said.O'Rourke has previously called for Trump's impeachment. He said Tuesday that Democrats should not worry -- as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said -- that doing so could energize Trump's base ahead of the 2020 election. He cited Attorney General William Barr's decision to skip a House hearing and the White House's refusal to comply with congressional subpoenas. He said Democrats should "look past those short-term consequences" and focus on obtaining documents and evidence. The only way to do so, he said is to "compel the testimony, the furnishing of those documents, through impeachment proceedings."At stake, O'Rourke said, are the "very sanctity of the ballot box and the very future of the world's greatest democracy.""If we do nothing because we are afraid of the polls or the politics, or the repercussions in the next election, we will set a precedent that, in fact, some people, because of the position of power and public trust that they hold, are above the law," he said. 1345
