DELANO, Calif. (KGTV) - Two people died in a crash Tuesday after a traffic stop by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in the city of Delano, near Bakersfield.The Delano Police Department arrived at the scene of the rollover just before 7 a.m. Officers found the SUV on its roof with two victims inside.Police said the SUV had been speeding when the driver went onto a dirt shoulder and lost control. The SUV flipped and stopped after it hit a power pole, according to police.The man and woman inside the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.Delano officers determined ICE agents had pulled over the SUV before the crash. Agents got out of their vehicle but the SUV driver left the scene. The SUV crashed a short time later.There is no word on the identities of the victims or why they were pulled over. 824

DETROIT — A bond between two 12-year-old boys is now helping a Detroit mother in her grief. After surviving two bouts with cancer, little KJ Gross' time on earth was cut short by the side effects of treatment. Now, KJ's best friend is helping his mom get some closure. KJ had defeated cancer twice in his young life, his mom San Singleton said. He had been free of the disease for six years when he landed back in the hospital from congestive heart failure."We packed up and we moved into the hospital," Singleton said. "And everything that they did for KJ thinking it would give him a better quality of life, it did the opposite."KJ would not leave the hospital again, but found support in his best friend from school, 12-year-old Kaleb Klakulak. The boys both liked to play video games and paint. They were inseparable, and Kaleb's visits became a light in the darkness for KJ.  923

(KGTV) -- Leaders with SANDAG, North County Transit District, and the chair for California's Transportation Committee met Friday off 7th Street in Del Mar to get a closer look at their bluff stabilization 0 million project, now 20 years in the making. Additions include sea wall improvement and a drainage system that runs parallel to the train tracks.NCTD Executive Director Matt Tucker said "We feel really confident. It'll secure the bluffs to allow continued safe movement on the corridor and it'll give time for the exact project we want to pursue and gain, to allow funding for a permanent solution."Natural disasters like heavy rain are a big concern that would cause tracks and bluffs to crumble down. After countless collapses in the past, beachgoers like Chris Smith, are often worried.Smith told ABC 10News, "I feel comfortable but in the back of my mind you know something could always happen." He also said awareness by leaders is a plus but the tracks should be moved entirely. "With the impact to what the train is providing to the cliff, at some point there's gonna be a negative impact to it," Smith added.Leaders said the new additions will buy them about 30 years, to plan a more permanent solution which could involve moving tracks into a tunnel system.Phase 5 of the project is slated to begin next summer, while plans for phase 6, the final phase, is still in the works. 1419

DENVER -- With Colorado’s rapid growth comes rising housing costs and more congestion on the road from more cars — and that doesn't even cover parking.A single parking garage space recently sold for a record-setting ,000 in downtown Denver. The spot is located right across the street from the Colorado Convention Center. “That was on a flat surface pretty close to the entry point,” said realtor Mark Trenka, who sells parking spots and real estate downtown.For the same price as a brand new Mercedes Benz C-Class, a Lexus LS, or a 5 Series BMW, someone bought 137 square feet of concrete.“They’re real estate transactions. It’s real property,” Trenka said. Trenka has sold nearly 70 parking spaces in Denver over the last few years, ranging from ,000 up to ,000.“We’ve seen a trend up in prices just like the condos,” he said. Denver is still not at a New York City or Chicago price level for buying parking spots, but the Mile High City’s prices are blazing new territory in Colorado. “The average of a parking space in the downtown area is between ,000 and ,000,” Trenka said. And while it’s a one-time cost to own the asphalt, you’re not out of the woods in terms of paying for it. Owning a parking spaces in condo complex also increases the amount of square footage in the building you own. DENVER — A former teacher at East High School in Denver was arrested after accusations she smoked marijuana with her students during a party at her Denver home. Rachel Farley, 29, was taken into custody Monday on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class 4 felony. According to an arrest affidavit, Farley invited students from her class to her home on August 18, 2017, to decorate clothing for Freshman Day. At some point during the event, she brought out marijuana and began smoking it with her students, the document reads.In February of this year, police say they were dispatched to the school after a student reported that Farley had been providing and consuming marijuana with her students at her home.Police interviewed nine students as part of the investigation and “multiple students admitted to smoking with the suspect,” the document read. Farley resigned from East High School on August 31, 2017, according to a statement from Denver Public Schools. The statement stresses, “there was nothing notable about her resignation - she simply resigned.”After her resignation, DPS says she had been working as a volunteer in the music and drama department at the school. But after the allegations surfaced in February, she was “barred from volunteering for, contracting with or being employed by Denver Public Schools in the future.”Farley was listed as still being in custody at Denver City Jail as of Wednesday morning.  1502
