In 2135, NASA says an asteroid the size of the Empire State Building could slam into Earth.According to the Washington Post, scientists say, though the chance is small, the asteroid could slam into Earth on September 22, 2135, destroying lots of living things on the planet. The odds of the asteroid, named Bennu, actually hitting Earth are one in 2,700. If the asteroid does get too close for comfort, the geniuses at NASA have hatched a plan.NASA says they could send a nine-ton “bulk impactor” to push the asteroid out of Earth’s orbit. The plan is called HAMMER, which stands for (deep breath) Hypervelocity Asteroid Mitigation Mission for Emergency Response.Though the odds are slim that the massive asteroid will hit Earth, in 1908, what is believed to be an asteroid crashed in Siberia with force 185 times as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The impact flattened 80 million trees and killed hundreds of reindeer. Scientists say Bennu isn’t all bad.The asteroid is giving scientists a chance to test theories. NASA’s OSIRIS-Rex will also map Bennu and figure out what the asteroid is made of.To learn more about Bennu, click here. 1153

If you're on the hunt for a bike rack and can't find one, you're not alone. Bike racks are currently low stock, out of stock or backordered as bike sales soar amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.High demand for bike racks and installation is putting it lightly.“U-Haul is the number one installer of after-market hitches in the entire U.S., so we’ve got a hitch professional installing hitches, bike racks, trailer hitches, just about everything else you can imagine at almost all of our 2,000 company-owned stores, said Jeff Lockridge, with U-Haul International.“There’s enough customers asking for them to where the primary manufacturers have a backlog and that was the very reason that our hitch manager decided to expand our product line and go out and sign up more bike rack manufacturers to make sure we’ve got product quicker.”In fact, so many people want bike racks and hitches, June 2020 saw the biggest sales month in U-Haul’s 75-year history. Those June sales broke the May sales, which were also record-high. It also sent the U-Haul sales team looking for more companies to deliver more product.“We are understandably handcuffed a little bit by how quickly manufacturers can get product to us so that we can take care of our customers because people are wanting to get out and ride their bikes now,” Lockridge said. They expanded and now offering racks from 15 different companies. Also in high demand: U-Haul’s "contactless" system.“They can rent a truck, pick it up, entirely on their cell phone without having contact with our team members,” explained Lockridge. 1583

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. –  A former United States border patrol agent says he nearly lost his arm in 2010 after training in Silver Strand Waters in southern California.Joshua Willey says he contracted flesh-eating bacteria.“I just remember my arm was extremely swollen like I wanna say the size of a volleyball maybe, “ Willey said. “My family and I were told that I might have to have my arm amputated and that was hard to hear.”Willey joined the group, “Citizens against Sewage” Friday afternoon to demand action against the ongoing problem.President Trump is scheduled to visit San Diego next week to look at the border wall prototypes, and the group wants him to take a tour of the Tijuana River Valley and view the extensive sewage issues."Citizens against Sewage" also called for the commissioner of the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) to resign or be reassigned for what they claim is a lack of action on the matter:IBWC sent the following statement to Scripps station KGTV in San Diego:"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Agent and his family. We have successfully pressed Mexico into taking emergency actions and that as a result fugitive illicit discharges are being intercepted.Mexico has told us and we are verifying that they are indeed taking steps to stop sewage from crossing the border. Commissioner Drusina will work until otherwise notified by the Administration." 1452

In a since-deleted tweet, Roseanne Barr blamed the sleep drug ambien for the racist tweets that eventually got her popular television show canceled."guys I did something unforgiveable (sic) so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defeneded-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but...don't defend it please. ty," Barr tweeted Tuesday evening.Throughout the evening on Tuesday, Barr posted multiple times on Twitter — despite promising to leave the platform earlier in the day after her first controversial tweet. "hey guys, don't defend me, it's sweet of you 2 try, but...losing my show is 0 compared 2 being labelled a racist over one tweet-that I regret even more," Barr tweeted around midnight on Tuesday. She also thanked her supporters before logging off early Wednesday morning.Barr retweeted 38 tweets on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning — including news stories, commentary, and a few tweets promoting right-wing conspiracy theories. Her tweets came hours after she said she was "leaving Twitter" when the controversy broke Tuesday morning. The fallout comes as networks continue to distance themselves from the comedienne. Viacom networks will no longer air reruns of the program, as well as the Laff Network (note: The E.W. Scripps company, the owner of this station, also owns the Laff Network).Las Vegas venues are also distancing themselves from Barr. On May 5, she had performed at a Orleans Casino. But Tuesday, Boyd Gaming Scripps station KTNV in Las Vegas that they have no existing agreements for any more shows with Barr at any of their properties in future.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. I just found out the @USPS is sending this postcard to every household and PO Box in the nation. For states like Colorado where we send ballots to all voters, the information is not just confusing, it’s WRONG.
