When approaching someone about their views on COVID-19, and their habits, he said it’s best to remain calm and open-minded.“It is throwing everyone for a loop,” Stanfield said, “So instead of saying that you’re really getting worked up about this, that’s probably not the best initial approach. It may be ‘I can see that this is really upsetting to you, can you tell me a little bit more about that?'”He said trying to understand, before attempting to be understood, is a good starting place. “Am I willing to consider their perspective, or am I in this to prove them wrong? Which in the end gets us nowhere in all of this, so I think those basic things are really important and critical.”If you know why someone’s habits are a certain way, it’s possible to compromise.“I know some people say compromise is a dirty word, in this case, I think compromise really gets at the fact that I’m wanting to meet someone or be a part of someone’s life the best I can," Stanfield said.If the social awkwardness persists, a ton of people is going to therapy to sort it out right now.“I sometimes equate therapy to taking your car in to get an oil change. In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, prosecutors are arguing that 30-year-old Samantha Jones killed her 11-week-old son, R.J., by breastfeeding while using drugs.According to the criminal complaint, R.J. died from ingesting a "combination of fatal drugs through breast milk" and is being charged with criminal homicide.Jones' attorney, Louis Busico, said that Jones "absolutely, unequivocally loved that child" and never intended to harm him.According to an affidavit, Jones told investigators that about 3 a.m. April 2, she heard R.J. crying.He had been primarily breastfed, Jones said, but she had recently started using formula because she worried that he wasn't getting enough milk and wasn't sleeping. She was too tired to make a bottle of formula, according to the affidavit, so she decided to nurse him. She then dozed on and off for a few more hours.Before her husband, Vincent McGovern, left for the day, he made R.J. a bottle and left it with Jones. She remembers feeding R.J., putting him back in his bassinet around 6:30 a.m. and going back to sleep.In the affidavit, Jones said she woke up about an hour later and panicked when she saw that R.J. was pale and had bloody mucus coming out of his nose. Jones and her mother, who also lived in the house, called 911 and began CPR.R.J. was taken to a hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead by 8:30 a.m.According to the Bucks County Coroner's Office, the autopsy revealed traces of methadone, amphetamine and methamphetamine were found in the infant's blood and contributed to his death.The affidavit further noted that the examiner who performed the autopsy said "R.J. ingested the combination of fatal drugs through breast milk."According to the affidavit, Jones told the investigators that she had been prescribed methadone since pregnancy to help manage her addiction to opioid painkillers, but there is no mention of other drugs.Investigators say they tested the bottle last used to feed R.J., as well as the can of formula, and found no traces of illicit drugs.In a news release, Bucks County Deputy District Attorney Kristin M. McElroy said it is possible that Jones could face a murder charge that carries a mandatory life sentence. The prosecutor's office did not offer any additional comment.Since her arrest, Busico said, his client is "completely in a state of depression." He added that the charges and arrest kicked Jones when she was already down, dealing with the death of her child.When asked about amphetamine or methamphetamine drug use by Jones, Busico would not comment.Jones' preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday. She agreed, but during the drive, she says he fidgeted with his blinkers and asked her to exit the SUV to make sure they were working. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - A new event venue is honoring the history of the South Bay, while giving people a gorgeous view for their parties and meetings.Salt Drift Pointe, at 536 13th Street, has 13,000 square feet of space. It includes a main room, a bar, patio, pier and more."It's a huge blank space," says Co-Owner Richard Inunza of the venue. "We've got a great atmosphere and great views."Inzunza and his co-owner Terry Snyder designed the venue specifically to try and pay homage to the South Bay. The "rustic wall" in the event space is painted to reflect the colors of the bay. And the name, Salt Drift Pointe, refers to the industrial history of the region.RELATED: New Chula Vista event space highlights city's rich history"When Rich and I thought about the name for this place, we wanted to grab the natural landscapes," says Snyder. "As you can see from the beautiful views we have of the salt ponds and the old salt mines, we wanted to include the salt."Salt played a big part in the South Bay story. According to San Diego History Center Historian Andy Strathman, it was the first industry that helped the region shift away from a farm-based economy during the late 1800s."You could build very large settling basins to bring the saltwater in and allow it to evaporate over time," says Strathman. "You would get the water increasingly saline, and eventually, you could harvest the salt."In the 21st century, the South Bay has shifted its economy again, trying to attract more tourists. The new Chula Vista Bayfront project is expected to bring in more than billion every year once it's completed.Inzunza and Snyder say it's fitting that a new business like theirs, which will tap into the hospitality industry, honors the past."We hope families can come and enjoy this place for years," says Snyder.To celebrate, Salt Drift Pointe is hosting a free grand opening party on Oct. 30.
