Police in Italy says an Austrian tourist has been accused of breaking off multiple toes of a statue in an Italian museum.According to a Facebook post by the Carabinieri police, which is located in Treviso, Italy, the tourist allegedly damaged "three fingers of the right foot of a plaster model of the statue 'Paolina Bonaparte as Venus Victorious'" on July 31 at the Gipsoteca Antonio Canova museum. 408

Photographer Matthew Dippel captured a once-in-a-lifetime photo earlier this month at Yosemite National Park, capturing the moment of what appears to be a marriage proposal. Dippel's photo shows the proposal taking place on a cliff, with the sun shining in the background. Now Dippel is hoping to find the couple in the photo. "Alright internet I need your help," Dippel said. "Help me find these two. This was taken at Taft Point, in Yosemite National Park on October 6th, 2018. I took this photo and would love for them to find it.Since posting the photo on Facebook last week, Dippel has had a few false leads. According to Dippel's Twitter account, those leads led nowhere. As of Tuesday, Dippel has been unsuccessful in finding the couple.  798

Passengers might be allowed to keep liquids and laptops in their carry-on bags at airport security checkpoints in the United States if screening technology being tested at select airports is widely adopted.The Transportation Security Administration announced plans Monday to test computed tomography (CT) scanners for carry-on bags, with up to 40 units expected to be in place at US airports by the end of 2018.The X-ray scanning equipment creates 3D images that can be analyzed on three axes for explosives and other threats. The CT technology is similar to that used for medical imaging. Current screening machines for carry-on bags generate 2D images."Use of CT technology substantially improves TSA's threat detection capability at the checkpoint," said TSA Administrator David Pekoske in a statement.CT technology testing started in 2017 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport. John F. Police in Ohio are searching for a man who pulled out a gun in a McDonald’s drive-thru because he was upset the restaurant didn’t have any McMuffins available.WKBN-TV reports that two men in a black Ford Taurus went through a McDonald’s drive-thru in Warren, Ohio  at about 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The man appeared to be in their early 20s.When told the restaurant did not have any McMuffins at the time, the driver of the car pulled out a gun and called the McDonald’s employee “an offensive name,” according to WFMJ-TV. The pair then sped away.According to the Associated Press, no one was hurt during the incident. The manager of the store told Warren police that he would review surveillance footage to see if the incident was caught on video. 768

Police in Paris have fired tear gas and used water cannon against protesters on the Champs Elysées, in the center of the French capital.The "yellow vest" protests, which began as a campaign against rising gas prices, have morphed into a wider demonstration against the government of President Emmanuel Macron in recent weeks.Police say they have mobilized 3,000 officers in Paris to contain the 8,000 protesters. A security perimeter has been set up in the city center, with government buildings protected. Three people have been arrested so far.At a news conference on Saturday, French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner blamed the clashes on far-right extremists infiltrating the demonstrations."Today, the far right has mobilized," he told reporters. "The security forces perfectly anticipated this situation."Far-right political leader Marine Le Pen rejected the accusations, describing it as a "pathetic and dishonest" form of "political manipulation" by the government.Earlier Castaner said of the protesters: "Their freedom of expression will be guaranteed, but it must not be exercised to the detriment of security, public order and the right of everybody to come and go.
