In a since-deleted tweet, Roseanne Barr blamed the sleep drug ambien for the racist tweets that eventually got her popular television show canceled."guys I did something unforgiveable (sic) so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defeneded-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but...don't defend it please. ty," Barr tweeted Tuesday evening.Throughout the evening on Tuesday, Barr posted multiple times on Twitter — despite promising to leave the platform earlier in the day after her first controversial tweet. "hey guys, don't defend me, it's sweet of you 2 try, but...losing my show is 0 compared 2 being labelled a racist over one tweet-that I regret even more," Barr tweeted around midnight on Tuesday. She also thanked her supporters before logging off early Wednesday morning.Barr retweeted 38 tweets on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning — including news stories, commentary, and a few tweets promoting right-wing conspiracy theories. Her tweets came hours after she said she was "leaving Twitter" when the controversy broke Tuesday morning. The fallout comes as networks continue to distance themselves from the comedienne. Viacom networks will no longer air reruns of the program, as well as the Laff Network (note: The E.W. Scripps company, the owner of this station, also owns the Laff Network).Las Vegas venues are also distancing themselves from Barr. On May 5, she had performed at a Orleans Casino. But Tuesday, Boyd Gaming Scripps station KTNV in Las Vegas that they have no existing agreements for any more shows with Barr at any of their properties in future.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - Medical examiners identified the body found floating off-shore in Imperial Beach as 29-year-old Zabiullah Rahmani.Rahmani leaves behind a wife of nearly ten years and two 7-year-old twin daughters. Ramzia Rahmani tells 10News, "I can say it was horrible and it still is." Less than a week since she lost her husband and the feelings are still raw, "The fire is burning in my chest whenever I see my girls ask about their father. It'ss too hard to face their questions, it's hard to answer their questions about their dad."She tells 10News, her husband left Saturday night to hangout with friends down in Imperial Beach. She says he was planning to be home for midnight but the hours after turned into Monday, "The doorbell rang and I saw there was two police officers and I felt bad. I thought maybe something happened to my husband." Thinking something bad but never imagining it would end up being her worst nightmare, "It's hard for me to believe hes not with me anymore." Thankfully she has support from family members like Zabi's cousin, "I'll try my best to be like a father to Zabi's kids and treat them the same way I treat my kids." A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family as they try to put together the pieces from here, "When we left Afghanistan he was like, we are going to have a bright future over there." Now, rebuilding that future without their husband and father. 1422

HOUSTON (AP) -- A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to stop expelling immigrant children who cross the southern border alone, halting a policy that has resulted in thousands of rapid deportations of minors during the coronavirus pandemic.U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan on Wednesday issued a preliminary injunction sought by legal groups suing on behalf of children whom the government sought to expel before they could request asylum or other protections under federal law.The Trump administration has expelled at least 8,800 unaccompanied children since March. 590

In a memo sent to state governors, the federal government says that states should be prepared to begin distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to the public this fall. The memo signed by CDC head Robert Redfield told governors that the federal government has contracted with the McKesson Corporation to assist in distributing the vaccine to local and state health departments, medical facilities, doctor officers, and other vaccine providers. In the letter, Redfield requested governors to waive any regulatory barriers that would prevent McKesson from operating distribution facilities. Redfield said the goal is to have these facilities operational by November 1.According to McKesson, the company provides “next-day deliveries” to pharmacies and has a nationwide network of distribution centers. While there is urgency for both public health and economic reasons for a vaccine, some experts have expressed concern over the speed of a vaccine and whether the expedited timeline is long enough to demonstrate efficacy. Dr. Anthony Fauci told NBC News on Wednesday that he believes a “safe and effective” vaccine could be ready by the end of the year."I believe that by the time we get to the end of this calendar year, that we will feel comfortable that we do have a safe and effective vaccine," he told NBC News.On Monday, a third vaccine candidate entered “Phase 3” trials in the US. AstraZeneca is testing its COVID-19 vaccine candidate for 30,000 participants. The AstraZeneca vaccine would come in two separate doses, according to the National Institutes of Health.Even though a vaccine could be ready by year’s end, trials will be expected to continue for over a year to monitor for possible side effects.According to the FDA, a typical Phase 3 trial would take one to three years.“NIH is committed to supporting several Phase 3 vaccine trials to increase the odds that one or more will be effective in preventing COVID-19 and put us on the road to recovery from this devastating pandemic,” said NIH Director Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D. “We also know that preventing this disease could require multiple vaccines and we’re investing in those that we believe have the greatest potential for success.” 2208

In an interview that was published on the US Department of State's website Friday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said more of Hilary Clinton's emails would be released. The news of the emails being released comes on the heels of two interviews President Donald Trump did Thursday. On Fox Business, Trump expressed his unhappiness with Pompeo because he's "running the department," so he should be able to "get them out," the State Department interview transcript stated."They're in the State Department, but Mike Pompeo has been unable to get them out, which is very sad," Trump said. "Actually, I'm not happy about him for that – that reason. He was unable to get them out. I don't know why. You're running the State Department; you get them out. Forget about the fact that they were classified. Let's go. Maybe Mike Pompeo finally finds them. Okay?"On Thursday, in an interview with Rush Limbaugh, President Donald Trump said Clinton "should be in jail" for deleting 30,000 emails, according to the State Department."She deleted 33,000 emails. She should be in jail for that. I don't even care if they're – if they're very highly confidential emails. I don't care what."In an interview with Fox News on Friday, Pompeo said that they have the emails and they're "getting them out.""We're going to get all this information out so the American people can see it," Pompeo said. "You'll remember there was classified information on a private server. It should have never been there. Hillary Clinton should never have done that. It was unacceptable behavior. It's not the kind of thing that leaders do."Pompeo added that the emails would probably be released before the election." We're doing it as fast as we can," Pompeo said. "I certainly think there'll be more to see before the election."In 2019, the State Department found "no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information." 1919
