Legendary Chicago Bears running back Gale Sayers died Wednesday, according to a statement from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was 77.A cause of death for Sayers was not listed in the Hall of Fame's statement, though he had been suffering from dementia for several years.After an All-America career at Kansas, Sayers was drafted fourth overall by the Bears in 1965. He made an immediate impact, scoring 20 offensive touchdowns and rushing for more than 800 yards. He quickly became known as one of the most dynamic players in the league with his swift speed and return ability.Throughout his career, Sayers rushed for 4,956 yards and averaged about five yards a carry. He was named first-team All-Pro during his first five seasons in the league and selected to four Pro Bowls.However, Sayers' career was beset by injury. He suffered from knee issues throughout his career, and injuries forced him to retire after just seven seasons in the league. He became the youngest inductee in the history of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.Sayers' relationship with teammate Brian Piccolo was immortalized in the 1971 movie "Brian's Song." Like colleges and universities across the country, Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts was forced to experiment with a complex new plan this year that allowed more than 5,000 students to come back to campus. At the same time, the university had to institute rigorous new guidelines to keep COVID-19 from spreading.The key to success has been testing. Every student is required to get tested at least twice a week."The testing frequency matters,” said Tuft's University President Anthony Monaco.“If you wait a week or 10 days to test someone, they could be fully symptomatic and spread it to an apartment or dorm cluster."University officials say testing has prevented any major outbreaks. So far, the university has conducted 76,000 tests, and 36 students have tested positive since Aug. 3. Most notable though is the university's positivity rate is at .05 percent."It was not just about protecting their own individual health, it was also about protecting the vulnerable residents who live in and around the university," Monaco said.To keep any student who may test positive from spreading the virus, the university has constructed an extra 200-modular units of dorm space. The idea of the modular facilities is to give campus health officials a contained area to monitor students who test positive for the virus, while at the same time, keeping them out of the general population.But not every college is testing as frequently as Tufts. A recent survey conducted by the College Crisis Initiative at Davidson College looked at 1,400 schools nationwide. (KGTV) - A strip mall that had fallen into disrepair and attracted squatters has been placed into receivership, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.Located on the 7400 Block of Broadway, the property consisted of several buildings that had closed about a year ago after the city busted an illegal marijuana dispensary.But that’s when the real problems began.“Lots of police calls, criminal activities and police responses,” said Richardson Griswold, who was appointed as the receiver by a superior court judge on Friday.It came after the City of Lemon Grove had been granted a judgment against the owners of the property. The judgment required that the owners clean it up and properly secure it, but that was never completed.When the receiver arrived Friday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Department was called in to remove six people who had been living inside. One of them was found hiding in the attic. Four were taken into custody on existing warrants.Inside, Griswold said there was “heaps of trash, clothing, and no plumbing, so there was the smell of human feces and human urine.”He had already hired a crew to start clearing out the buildings and board up the access points.
